    Hotel Phillips?

Anybody every stay here? Looking for a place to stay close to P&L District when in KC for the game in September and see they have rooms for $99/night. Was looking for some feedback on the place if anybody has any?

    Re: Hotel Phillips?

Just stayed in it for the Big 12 Tourney. It's just blocks from the P&L district which was nice. Older Hotel but has been renovated, I think it's the best deal in downtown KC for the money so I'd recommend it. Thinking of booking a room for the Arrowhead game there myself.

    Re: Hotel Phillips?

We got Hotel Phillips on Hotwire for $64/night for Sat/Sun for September. I used a site that gives you a pretty good idea of the hotel prior to booking on Hotwire and can check it tonight when I get home to see if the same amenities are still out there on Hotwire...

    Re: Hotel Phillips?

I read 'Hotel Phillips?' and figured it was in reference to some 6'8", 345 lb. offensive left tackle recruit nicknamed "Hotel."

Same here. We found it very convenient for the tournaments as well as its close to both Municipal and Sprint center. One thing that jumped out at me....those are the smallest elevators i have ever been in.

    Yeah, it's an old hotel.

BRING BOTTLED WATER unless you like drinking tap water that looks like milk.

Who needs water when you have beer? Actually we bought some bottled water at the market down the street which also has a good liquor selection and some decent hot food items in their cafeteria area. The tap water was weird, it looked funny at first but let it sit in the glass for about 30-60 seconds and it looked normal. Not sure what the deal was with that.

    Re: Hotel Phillips?

As others have said, it's an older hotel with updated rooms. I've stayed there multiple times for work and have really liked the rooms I've gotten. Kind of surprised you found that price, most of the times I've stayed there it's 175+ $ a night. They have a small work out facility with 3 treadmills, an elliptical and some lighter free weights. The qualm I had with the place was their room service is fairly slow in the morning. The couple of times it actually arrived before I was out the door, it was quite good though..

Nice place. Rustic decor, lots of wood and brass.

    Re: Hotel Phillips?

I stayed there a couple of years ago for a George Strait concert at Kemper. Decent hotel. I would stay there again if not for the Shuttle Van driver who slammed the van door into the side of my vehicle and proceded to leave it banging off of it in the wind as he helped the people out of the van. When I got out and questioned him about it, he looked at me like I was crazy for even thinking he was at fault. After a brief but heated exchange, I went in and talked to the night manager, everything worked out ok, and needless to say I didn't get into a fist fight with the guy.

Personally I would have my own reasons for not staying there again, but I can't say it was really a bad place. Just watch out for the parking people.

We stayed there for the tourney also (maybe we need to get a CF block of rooms for next year). Great location as has been mentioned. If it's a busy weekend, be prepared for a 20-30 minute wait for your car from the valet and another 20-30 minutes to get a table for breakfast. Will definitely consider it again next year.

    Re: Hotel Phillips?

Are there ramps nearby that we can self-park for cheaper??? I don't want to be stuck waitng for the valet at 5:00AM when we head out to get in line at Arrowhead!
