    Wife's perspective

After being somewhat upset about the recent roster losses, my wife said something rather prophetic tonight, "well, who cares if they are gone, they didn't win with them anyway, maybe the team will get players who can win now."

While I think losing Ham, CB, and Quez smarts, I think she makes a good point. Sometimes its not just talent, but also chemistry. I have felt all year there has been a lack of team chemistry, and perhaps losing the people who don't want to be at ISU will work out for the best. I guess, if someone doesn't want to be somewhere, they aren't going to give it their all day in, day out. It was obvious to me at the Duke game watching practice/warm ups that there was a lack of interest/commitment/intensity from a number of players. Coaches can't coach commitment and intensity, North Carolina is a good example, so is the Texas men's and women's team this year. Great coaches befuddled by talented players not giving it their all.

I am sad about losing Ham. However, I think his level of improvement demonstrates our coaching staff's excellent ability to develop players. We must move on and support those who choose to be here.

    Re: Wife's perspective

I think we also have to put it in perspective. The only shock in the 4 is Ham. And Ham was a huge shock and a big problem. But it is not like we've had 4 shocking exits this year----so far!

I don't agree with this theory. You can't teach 6'11. Our only hope now is to run, run , run. We have the athleticism to do that. I really think Dendy would thrive in that environment.

He's talking about the 4 that have left so far this year. You know, this year's losses in the annual MBB exodus.

I picture Dendy at the end of a press, waiting to block shots. I think he thrives beyond belief in that environment.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

    Re: Wife's perspective

My concern is that we seem to be having this happen every year. Greg seems to be getting a reputation for running players off.

The only thing that will shock me more is if Diante declares for the draft. Then the only thing that would shock me more than that is if he was drafted.

The only thing that would please me at this point is if Diante left. I 'm sure he is a good person and he works hard. I just can't stand guys that get minutes, let alone start that bring nothing to your team. I'm gonna get railed for this one. Lay it on me.

He brought nothing to the team? That's laughable. He was the only vocal leader on the floor, he was third in the league in assists,he had the best shooting percentage of all the guards, he almost single handedly created the one bright spot in the season when he stepped up and led us over KSU, he was extremely consistent, he played defense as hard as anyone else on the team and he was the only one that could handle the ball under control with pressure put on them. It kills me that people continue to neglect everything positive he does for this team.
