    I don't Understand Why

people are blaming Pollard for so much. I know the mbb season was a huge disappointment. Demoralizing. But every other sport has either stayed at a high level(wbb, wrestling) or is getting better(football, vball, t&f). The funding to the program has dramatically increased, multiple facility upgrades, and more athletes are graduating than ever before. To blame Pollard for everything and say he is a horrible AD just seems ignorant. I understand if you don't like him, he can come off as a little arrogant and brash, granted he isn't my favorite person but it sure seems that other than mbb we are in a better place than before he was here.

WBB had a great year, Football had a great year, and why would people ***** about the rest of the sports if they can't name the head coach then they shouldn't complain.

Well I'm disappointed in him. He has done a great job in making other programs better, but the sport that Iowa State seems to be known for is wayyyy down. He has said he is a builder not a maintainer. He is not building the basketball program, he is instead wasting money buy keeping a coach who is proving nothing.

Bolded for truth, did he not just build a brand new basketball only facility for the mens and womens porgram? I'd say that doing something no other AD here has done for the program. Hard to argue that huh.

Wrong, people are blaming Pollard because he has the hand on this. We are not blaming him for the other athletic programs, just basketball. He offers a man a contract extension who hasn't shown any progress with the basketball program. So i wouldn't say we who blame him are stupid, he has made stupid decisions to put him in these situations.

Honestly does it seem to be helping? Sure it gives them somewhere to play basketball and practice, and was needed to bring in better prospects, but thats not building the program. The coach builds the program, LE and TF did it here without that facility. I didn't say I don't like what hes done with Iowa State in whole, but with the basketball program he has done nothing but build a building on land that was given to the school.

Keep telling yourself that to hate the man. It is more than any other AD has EVER done for the program. Just a building....Dumas (pronounced with an american accent).

I'm not here to call you out. I'm just a die-heart basketball fan. I said I like what the man has done in whole at Iowa State. The basketball program is down and thats what type of school we see ourselves as. You can tell me Pollard does not have the keys to fire McDermott, and I will agree. But why? Because Pollard made an offer to McDermott while McDermott showed no progress with the team. I'm glad the building is there now, its a huge help to the program, but when you look at the program a building isn't going to keep people from transferring out of a program.

I never liked the GMac hire. I just though ISU could have hired a much bigger name for the same money. It just seemed like, with all the BB coaches out there, that ISU could at least look at someone more than 120 miles away. GMac has failed way beyond my expectations. It is staggering to look at the absolute lack of player retention he has had at ISU. I don't remember him having these types of issues at UNI. He has not done anything wrong in terms of representing the school, but at some point you have to win games or at least be building something for the future. In JP defense, there was no reason to think that GMac would not have solid, hard working, fundamental teams at ISU, and have some success.

    DING DING DING!!!

Every sport at ISU has improved under his leadership except men's basketball ... and he is not the coach

Granted, I disagreed with the hiring of GMac then and now, but it happens ... I don't know what he should do now but that's why I'm not being paid to be the Athletic Director at ISU

I agree. Pollards taking the heat because he tied his own hands. Why give out a lengthy contract extension and raise to a coach that hasn't even proven he can win in this league?
