    Re: Durant to enter Draft

I'd love to see him play in Hilton, but you never know what can happen on a basketball court and getting probably around 50 million would be nice.

Texas could have been very dangerous next year with everyone back. Maybe the only team with a good chance to win the conference besides KU next year.

    Re: Durant to enter Draft

Actually under the NBA CBA draft picks don't really cash in on huge contracts until after their 4th or 5th season anymore. It's all scaled. Here's something I found: http://www.nba.com/news/cba_rookiesalary_050804.html

The most the 1st pick makes in his first 3 years is just under 12 mil total. I think the team holds the rights to pick up a 4th year option then they become restricted free agents after their 4th season where the team can match any offer given as long as they made a qualifying offer. It's not like the NFL where picks negotiate terms, in the NBA if you are drafted your contract is already set based on where you are picked.

    Re: Durant to enter Draft

From what I have read, there is allegedly a 30 - 50 million dollar endorsement contract offer from Nike. Probably will get the usual other suspects as well i.e. Gatorade, etc.

Forgot endorsements. If you include those then that is a fat paycheck but his NBA salary is pretty small compared to the endorsement money.

I was counting the endorsements as well. Yes, rookie salaries have been scaled for a while. I think I remember hearing about that when LeBron came into the league.

I am not surprised. HE won almost every award out there. Also, why would he schedule a conference if he was staying?

Lets see...either I could start making mega millions now or hang around college and earn virtually nothing.

Gee, I wonder, what should I do...

But he could be the #1 draft choice if he waits a year.... ohh wait.

Yeah. If he's not #1, he'll go #2. If not #2, an NBA GM will soon be out of a job.
