    Re: Flooding Forecast

Video of the ice damning on the Des Moines river were pretty impressive as well.

I don't have any real flooding to worry about, but I'm getting more and more worried about ground saturation and my basement.

I think they may need to change the definition of what major flooding is here in Cedar Rapids now. Because the crest is predicted to be 15-17 ft. 16 ft is major stage. Point of reference 2008 the river hit 31.1 ft

I am a business owner who was flooded in Palo, because of the all the media talking about major flooding. It is scaring my customers and they are moving out. When in reality there is little to no chance that this will effect my business.

I'm already having fun with that. Gotta love those record snowfalls simultaneously melting and getting rained on.

Throw in a wet Fall as well. Just hope we don't have a repeat of 2008.

    .
Des Moines comes down from Saylorville, and the Raccoon comes in from the west through Water Works under Fleur.

That thing floods if a sprinkler has been left on too long.

I really do feel bad for George Flagg's sons. George Flagg Parkway is just constantly under water...

    Re: Flooding Forecast

Gotta remember that the 2008 flooding in CR also included a crazy rainfall from Austin Minnesota that followed the Cedar River. Even 20 miles from the river, it didn't rain much, but teh heavy rain just passe right along the river.
