PHOENIX, Ariz. Ė The Iowa State men's golf team came out of the gates strong Monday during the first two rounds of the Cowboy Classic presented by Cleveland Golf hosted by the University of Wyoming. The Cyclones shot the third-best team total in school history with a 279 in the first round to position themselves in a tie for fifth place with Southern Utah out of 22 schools. ISU tallied a team total of 569 and shot 9-over par on the day. UC-Davis is leading the field, shooting 6-under par at the par-70, 7,133-yard Talking Stick North Course. Joe Ryon from UC-Santa Barbara recorded an impressive 7-under par 133 on the day to take a two-stroke lead heading into Tuesday's final round.
