    NCAA Brackets

Just watched the brackets get announced. Long got the 5 seed. Fanthorpe gets the 10 seed, Jensen gets the 4 seed Humphrey from Ohio state first. Sorenson gets Jones from Michigan state. 165 Reader is the 4 seed, really needed to win last weekend, likely match up with Howe in Semis. Burke got Blanton from Illinois who he beat earlier in the year (barely). Ward gets the #1 seed from Boise State right out of the gate. jake got the 1 and Zabriskie got the 1 seed. Top side of HWT brackets is tough.

Not sure what to think just yet.

    Re: NCAA Brackets

I really wish I had a printer and/or paper so I could look at this in a way that would let me really examine it. I"ll have to wait until late tomorrow/early Friday to do that though. This year is going to be a lot tougher because Iowa got all 10 in this year as well.

    Re: NCAA Brackets

I posted this in the other thread about the draw ISU got:

If ISU wins this they will have earned it, they have about as tough a draw at almost every weight as imaginable.

Long versus Robles in the quarters
Fanthrope has Grey in the second round then Dennis in the quarters - ouch
Jensen with Humphrey in the first round
Mueller and Metcalf in the quarters
Reader and Sponseller in the quarters
Burk with Blanton in the first round, Bennett in the second then Borschel in the quarters if he gets through that mess
Ward with #1 seed Smith first round
    Varner will be a finalist
Big Z should get to the semis then face either Erekson or Dudziak

I see 2 for sure and possibly 3 in the semi's in Varner, Big Z and Reader and to put it into perspective about how tough it is for the Clones I could see 6 Hawks in the semis:
    McDonough
    Dennis
Marion (he got a great draw and I wouldn't be shocked to see him in the finals)
    Metcalf
    Borschel
    Erekson

ISU will have to be at the top of their game.

Marion and McDonough stand out to me (Dennis does a bit as well, but I think he'd be able to do it with some luck) as being the odd-men out on who should make it there. Erekson, I'm assuming will have to go through the Okie State wrestler, so I dunno about that.

From what you've sayed though, and from what you predict, it looks like Iowa may have an "easier" path to me as well.

Rosholt got the #2 seed is on the bottom of the bracket, Erekson will have to go through Dudziak of Duke in the quarters which will be tough. But Big Z has Ellis of Missouri in the quarters as well. The top half of the HWT bracket is loaded.

I honestly think Iowa does have the easier path and could win this thing even without Morningstar doing anything if he is hurt that bad.

Like I said earlier in the thread, it's hard for me to look at these things on a screen (I need to be able to write on the brackets to get a good feel of it), and I won't be able to do that for a while. I'm not sure how it truly stacks up because of it.

That said, from some of the brackets that I did catch and was able to see a bit of, it seems like Iowa and ISU are on the same side of a lot of the brackets, so that will be huge if they ever/when they meet up.

    Re: NCAA Brackets

I don't mind Long's draw. Robles is tough, but Long showed earlier this year that he had a plan and it worked, just lost it in the end.

McDonough has to go up against the Cornell wrestler which looked tough against Long. I think both Long and McDonough drop their semis and face each other in the 3rd/4th match.

    Re: NCAA Brackets

Ereckson has a tough go as well. He gets dudziak in the quarters, he was runner up last year. 141 to me is not a strong weight class. Marion is in a perfect position. I have yet to figure out which Marion will show up. Iowas Beatty at 197 did not get a strong placement.... The Russian is no pushover for a first round match. If Beatty is healthy he likely wins but this is a dangerous match.

Not excited about the match ups. Reader has a tough first round match as well for a non seeded wrestler. I dont see Sponseller being to tough. Reader handled him fairly easily at national duals.
