    On the surface, I see nothing wrong with it as it's simple grandfathering. Now, if ISU had a head-coach-in-waiting and we weren't being treated the same way, I might have some issues with it.

    so if they are adding rules for "coaches in waiting", why would any school publicly announce it? I would guess that in the future we'll a lot of coaches privately told that they are the next coach, but those words never get spoken again.

    Exactly, which is why this will just change behavior a little bit but have no real impact.
