Could ISU be playing in NY in December???

Yankee Stadium to host first Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 30 - NCAA Football - SI.com

The first Pinstripe Bowl will be played at Yankee Stadium on Dec. 30 and will be televised by ESPN. The game will include the No. 3 team in the Big East and the No. 6 school in the Big 12, excluding Bowl Championship Series participants.

I hope not..... I really don't like the idea of going some where cold.....

yes it's a major reason why I live in Houston. P.S. It's 80 degree right now! I'm posting this while the grill is warming up and drinking a beer on the deck!

Re: Could ISU be playing in NY in December???

Imagine how expensive that trip would be! New York City, right before the New Year with all the other tourists in town for the New Years Eve celebration. Hotels would be a nightmare to find at a decent price and the crowds would be numerous.

Getting past that though, watching a football game in Yankee Stadium would be pretty cool.

I hope not. I don't want to go somewhere cold, crowded and (extremely) expensive to watch the clones....I'd gladly go to San Diego for the Holiday Bowl though.

All this. Even detroit might be a better place to watch a bowl game. At least its indoors so you're not freezing your butt off during the game. Add that to what are sure to be very pricey hotel rooms, and you can probably count me out. I'm not entirely how they ever thought this bowl would be a good idea.

I'm still debating, but i think even Shreveport might be a better place. At least it gets warmer there.

Re: Could ISU be playing in NY in December???

With our schedule next year I'd take any bowl, and would very likely still go if we made it. But does that mean that is the low bowl on the Big 12 ladder right now? I thought we had 7 guaranteed bowl slots with at least 6 win teams.

Re: Could ISU be playing in NY in December???

I love we're talking bowl games, but i'm with CYKOFAN. With next year's schedule we'll be damn lucky to get this year's record of 6-6 or 7-6 with the bowl game. That schedule is brutal and looking more like 4-8. I would welcome ANY bowl.

So does this mean one more big 12 team a year gets to go to a bowl game? If it is thats great, I don't give a **** where it is. Would give us a little advantage if we are playing a team from the south.

I left Houston and moved back to Iowa because I was fed up with the weather down there. Don't understand the attraction at all.

    I'm torn on this.

I want to do anything and everything I can to support my school, but I swore I would never spend a dollar on anything relating to the New York Yankees.

At least it is a direct flight from DSM.

Re: Could ISU be playing in NY in December???

This is a crap bowl in a crap location for the time of year (yes I know it is NYC), BUT if we make this bowl or even Detroit with next year's schedule I will be going and FIRED UP! The nice thing is, as long as Mizzou and we both are bowl eligible and Mizzou hasn't won the conference we ought to be able to rely on them to fill that slot so we can enjoy the bump.
