    March Madness Traditions

With Selection Sunday coming up, and the bracket competitions, I was wondering what you guys do either while you watch the games, how you make your brackets or if you sit infront of the tv all day waiting for the selection show?

I start by watching Gus Johnson clips on youtube, just to get me pumped up. His enthusiasm is second to none!

It's kinda like the super bowl.......need lots of good food, beverages of your choice, some good friends, and some scratch paper for listing some favorites while watching conference tourney finals. But, as soon as the brackets are announced, immediately head to the computer for printable brackets and proceed to fill out the first alcohol induced picks, which inevitably will be changed come Monday morning.

    Re: March Madness Traditions

We do a team draft every year. There's eight of us that do it, two different pools. One is a capture pool and the other is straight up, makes the late rounds of the draft a lot more interesting. Adding a five player draft this year, total points takes pot, should be fun. Always get the package from Directv in HD on 55", 42" and 2 32", can't wait till Thursday!

    Re: March Madness Traditions

When I pick my brackets, I do it all in pods. For instance, I look at, say, the #5 vs. #12 and #4 vs #13 in a given region and decide who of those four will make the Sweet Sixteen and work backwards. I do that for the first two rounds for the whole bracket, then do the same for the Sweet Sixteen to the Final Four. I usually do pretty well that way.

I sit on in front of the TV and just bask in the pure basketball greatness. Easily the greatest event/events on the sports calendar, hands down.

Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

    Re: March Madness Traditions

I personally think that it should become a tradition that ISU's spring break corresponds to the NCAA first round week. When I realized this, suddenly my lack of spring break plans became a plus.

    The natural progression has been:

High School-- Beg teachers to turn day games on during class.
College-- Skip class and get stupid drunk.
Post-Grad-- Skip class and get stupid drunk.

I don't call in sick...but at the beginning of every year in January, I tell my company I am using those two days as vacation days for the first rounds.
