    Wow DePaul basketball has fallen

Scored 15 points in the 1st half today against South Florida in the Big East tourney.

Where have the Mark Aguirre, Terry Cummings, Dallas Comegeys, Tyrone Corbin, and Rod Strickland's of the world gone to? That use to be a heck of a program.

Who do you think would be a good hire for them?

I've heard Steve Lavin might be interested in that job. As well as former Blue Demon's Tyrone Corbin (current Utah Jazz assistant) and Rod Strickland (current Kentucky assistant).

Go back to 2000 and look at how we have fallen. I think we can relate.

Michigan topped that Saturday. I believe they scored 14 in the first half but it may have been only 12. Pretty sad.

    Or so I have read.

Re: Wow DePaul basketball has fallen

I grew up (in Cedar Rapids) watching DePaul play on WGN! They were nationally known for a variety of reasons (cable tv, Chicago, Ray Meyer)...but mostly because they were good! They kept the best players in the city at home and won! There are a lot of reasons they are no longer prominent on the college scene (Joey Meyer getting cut off by the CPL for refusing to pay the high school coaches to direct players his way is a big one)!

One of the biggest reasons I see as DePaul struggling in men's basketball is that their AD uses all the Big East money to build non-revenue programs and refuses to reinvest in MBB! It is embarrassing! Who cares that DePaul has a GREAT softball program (coached by the AD's brother)!!! Until they rebuild their MBB program...that school is insignificant! (by the way, DePaul in the largest Catholic university in the country, doesn't mean much but it always surprises me when I read that)

Re: Wow DePaul basketball has fallen

Its pretty sad how far DePaul has fallen. They were huge back in the 80's and now no one really even cares about them. They are at a huge disadvantage since they don't play their home games on campus. No students go to the games.

Yep, remember watching those games on WGN as well. They would sell out the Rosemont Herizon a lot. Problem with that arena is it's run down plus it's too far away from campus. I think they need to build an on-campus (or close to it) arena (8,000-10,000 seats) to at least get the student body somewhat interested again.

They have some good talent that we recruited as well. Jeremiah kelly, Mac Koshwal used to play with Brackins, Mike STovall was good in high school. There coach must be having the same problems that we hve. THey have a few 4 star recruits on there team.

Yea, didn't have a couple guys declare early for the draft last year after they went winless in the conference? I dont think its talent they lack.

They also have one senior on the roster. If they get a new coach he could be walking into a goldmine there.
