    Gillstrap or CB

Ok, I think we have given sportstalkmatt enough attention. Here is something I have been thinking about the last couple days. If we could get one of these guys back for next year who would you pick, Craig or Gillstrap. I would go Craig since we seem to have a lot of potential replacements at the small forward spot. Ejim, Oliver, Booze or a three guard line up with Scottie, Phillips or Colvin in that spot.

Sorry, I am not tech savy enough to make a poll and too lazy to figue it out.

Difficult question. Getting either would be a big bonus.

I'd rather have Craig back. He's obviously the leader of this team.

    Re: Gillstrap or CB

Gilstrap with one year under his belt in the Big XII he could possibly be a first team Big XII nominee

    Re: Gillstrap or CB

Gilstrap. I feel like his departure will leave a bigger hole in our starting lineup. I think Dendy could step into Craig's 4 spot and be a decent role player. But I don't feel as good about two freshman (Ejim or Oliver) stepping into Gilstrap's shoes.

    Re: Gillstrap or CB

Gilstrap, only because of the fact that CB has already done so much for Iowa State and deserves to go get his cash-money. Not that MG doesn't, but you know what I mean.

    Re: Gillstrap or CB

i agree with gilstrap. craig has shown time and again he cannot handle physical competition and double teams. hes a good player... when the other team is single guarding him with a softie who will allow him to play his game

    Re: Gillstrap or CB

i choose marquis. i didnt use basketball as a variable. dumb i know but that wouldve been a tough decision. i choose marquis because of what he's gone through and how he decidied, because of his baby daughter, that he needed to go back to school. so i want him to get another year of school.

    Re: Gillstrap or CB

I would take CB not only for his on the court peformance but also the fact that he is the real leader of the team. Obviously, I expect a drop-off between Marquis Gilstrap and Melvin Ejim; however, IMO there is a bigger drop-off between CB and LaRon Dendy especially if LaRon doesn't shoot 100 free throws a day during the offseason. LaRon shooting free throws is the equivalent of a turn-over right now. He's got great potential if he can start finishing off when he gets fouled and starts making free throws. All this being said, one thing I can't put my finger on is the way the team excelled when CB got in foul trouble in the Nebraksa game and we spread the margin and the way he fouled out of the K-State game and we ended up winning. Do we win those games if CB is in there? Who knows? Sometimes a team uses a superstar like CB as a crutch and they can actually peform better without that superstar.
