    Very interesting. He is dead on about certain things (clutter on the web, the web not replacing stores, etc.) but, clearly, many of the hurdles he talks of on the internet have been overcome by some very innovative people that developed tools (search engines, secure pay capabilities, etc.) that have been developed. Thanks for sharing.

    Yup. In a way though it's always people toting the new thing as the solution to all, that lead to articles like this as the solution to nothing.

    The internet is a tool. It's not where we'll live, but it's a nice place to visit now and then. To say it would fail was a bad idea. It just wouldn't be as huge as some people thought. And those people toting it as a solution to everything, imo, proabably made as crazy predictions in 1995 as this guy.

    The guy obviously is an idiot for thinking 1995 was the pinnacle of technology and that there would be no further advances for multimedia, screens, laptops, etc, but he is dead-on about any *** being able to post any dribble online (exhibit A as I hold up my hand). It is sometimes difficult to find any hard-nosed, true journalism online anymore.

    So none of you guys have heard of Clifford Stoll? His book "A Cuckoo's Egg" is a pretty interesting read, at least if you were around computers back in the dark ages.
