Top 10 Things I Learned About the Men's B-ball Season

    1. I was duped into thinking we'd be much better than we actually turned out to be. I thought we were an NCAA pick at the very least. Joke's on me I guess.

    2. Our guard play is lacking. We just don't have the muscle or B-ball IQ to make it in this league. How many errant passes? How many hours of watching the ball dribbled around the horn, never to make it inside? Add to that: deflected passes, blocked shots, double teams that result in a turnover and missed layups. Jesus, it's just terrible basketball.

    3. Dendy has a good upside, but no heart. Yeah his absences were excused throughout the year, but he just isn't a hard worker. He's a guy that relies on his raw talent and will do nothing positive in basketball until he commits to the game and team.

    4. This is the worst free throw shooting team I've ever seen at ISU. Just stand at the line, uncontested, and shoot. Evidentially we're not capable of preforming this task. We used to win games this way and in the process drive the opposing teams insane.

    5. German B-ballers suck. Lucca is the biggest *** we've seen come out of Germany since Hitler. Who effing quits on their team mates and coaches like that? Even with the outpouring of Cyclone love we showed the traitor when the NCAA came down on him.

    6. Gillstrap. You can tells he's an athletic freak, but can't dribble a basketball to save his life. I thought he'd have a much smoother game and less leg cramps. Oh well. If I were him, I'd go get my check in Turkistan.

    7. Time outs. WTF was with all the saved time outs at the end of games? Was Greg saving them so he could give the oldsters in Hilton enough time to get out of the parking lot? Watching the game you can tell when we could have used them, but he refused and let the team get crushed rather than deflating the other teams momentum.

    8. Brackins. Has there ever been a bigger disappointment in the history of ISU basketball? The guys has to be asking himself why he came back. He could have millions in the bank, but instead is headed to the Iowa Energy. Where did he disappear to?

    9. Colvin. Does anyone think this kid will stick around next season? I guess there's always the carrot of more playing time, but when your coach gets the ax, is starting over with new coaches appealing? The answer is nope.

    10. Rope. As in, Greg McD. has been given enough this season to hang himself. He has to go. There is no turning the program around. Not after four years and no okay wins. Not good or great wins, but NO okay/decent wins. I'm seriously afraid the fan-base is done with the guy. I'm confident I am.

For the mental health of the ISU fan base, Jamie P., let's get a good coach in here. One that can deliver results.

    11. Pollard should've made the coaching change at the beginning of the season ... having Harrison Barnes' mom take over. Nothing went right for ISU after Barnes ego-stroking press conference.

I don't either. I've been holding my criticism of the team, its players and the season until now. I think it's important to have the evidence before throwing someone under the bus.

But where id CB go? I was so proud of him when he announced he would return to ISU for his Junior year but it's been just a disaster for him. I feel so badly for the guy, though I feel there's something seriously wrong with his attitue and game this year. He's just not what I thought he should have been this season. What we needed him to be.

The wheels came off the team and the coaching staff when H.B. said "see ya!!!" I just do not see how Coach Mac can have any recruiting success given the lack of success over the last four years and the continuous string of player defections. Recruits have to notice ESPN constantly reminding viewers that "former Iowa State player..." J.P. and Coach Mac need to ride off into the sunset together.

I tend to agree. HB was going to save Greg's job next year and buy time. Now who will do that?

Geez, up until tonight I was willing to give Mac at least 1 more year to see if he could get things sorted out. The way the end of regulation and overtime was managed just destroyed the rest of my empathy for him. Last home game you would've thought the guys could've figured SOMETHING out. No, just the same song, different verse.

Was just #1 on the West coast edition. "Missouri beats Minnesota 69-67" - Stuart Scott, in this case I thank them for getting our name wrong, embarrassing ending.
