    New Tool album this fall?

Just got an e-mail from a friend who works in the LA Music biz. Says Tool will try to release a new album in October.

Take it for what it's worth, but I for one am loving this news.

Should be good! 10,000 Days was the soundtrack for some great times.

Don't ask why, but I'd peg you as a Laterallus guy.

Perhaps. I'm just talking out my arse anyways.

I know it isn't the most beloved Tool album, but I'll always love 10,000 Days. It bogs down in parts (Rosetta Stoned), but it's high points are pretty damn incredible. Rock radio may have abused "Vicarious" and "The Pot", but for my money it's hard to find better songs for a long run.

I loved Rosetta Stoned. One of the heaviest songs they have ever put out. And the lyrics are hilarious!!!!

All my buddies were totally into it, but it seemed a bit indulgent to me. I always really appreciated the lyrics of Vicarious. For the most part, I hate reality tv, and IMO, it was a scathing indictment of that sector of society.

Tool has a direct influence on my decision to give up 99% of all television. I watch sports & LOST. Nothing else. TV does not broadcast in my home. Everything I need is online or at a friend's house.

Re: New Tool album this fall?

They've been dropping subtle hints on their website. Then again TOOL has been known to yank a chain or two. I would be totally surprised by a release this October, not totally surprised by a release next October though. I'm a HUGE TOOL fan. One of the ones who probably over thinks, over analyzes, and separates their body from their mind. If I have learned ANYTHING by being a TOOL fan, it is that I'll believe it when I see it. They sure know how to build suspense.

The official unofficial TOOL website toolshed.down.net has said dont get your hopes up for anything in the near future.

On a slightly related note: Trent Reznor has been posting pictures almost daily on NIN.com. He said that at the close of the last round of tours, that NIN was done for good. However, he also said that we should expect a NIN release of new material this year as well as something totally non-NIN related. Trent is one of those few musicians who truley seem to care about his fans. I would be expecting a teaser of some new music very soon from him/them/whatever.

I'll be going to the Ankeny Hy-Vee this weekend to put in a request for some of Maynard's Arizona Stronghold wine. Has anyone seen this stuff anywhere else around here?

If they are going to put out a new album, I would bet we won't see it until spring of 2011. That follows their recent cycle: 5 years between Aenima (1996) and Lateralus (2001) and 5 years between Lateralus and 10,000 Days (2006).

They dont sell it around here from what I understand. When down in Arizona for the bowl, I took a bit of a trip to Jerome, AZ to check out his store as well as the Puscifer store. His store is called Caduceus Cellars. We got to try out a few of his wines and I bought a few bottles. From what I understand, they store their wines in some sort of metal barrels instead of wooden. That way the "true flavors of the grapes shine through". None of my family (who really like wine), liked his wine. If you're used to the oaky, earthy, flavors, there is absolutely none of that in his wines. It is a very different taste.

    : : : caduceus : : :

Thats the website. I bought the Chupacabra, which was one of his less expensive bottles. His prized bottle is made from grapes grown from land that he sprinkled his mothers (Judith) ashes over. A bit creepy IMO, but that's Maynard. The wine is called Judith and it sells for $100 a bottle. Didnt get to try that one, but there were some of the Maynard worshipers in the store while we were there buying a few bottles.

Love Tool and A Perfect Circle. Maynard is awesome. If you've never seen them in concert, I would HIGHLY recommend it. I've seen Tool twice and APC once and both shows were amazing.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

The moral: you gain more by not being stupid, than you do by being smart. Smart gets neutralized by other smart people. Stupid does not.
