There is no way that she'll be convicted on this charge, but I'd say it's probably 50/50 on whether she actually did faint or fell down the stairs intentionally.

Don't know if she needed to be arrested or not, but she needs help for sure. Hopefully they will get her atleast a social worker to help her through all her options.

The real lesson may be to not tell your health care workers more than they absolutely need to know!

Here's a Register article from when this happened last month

'I never said I didn't want my baby': Mom won't be prosecuted | desmoinesregister.com | The Des Moines Register

It gives a much more complete account

Well, the police should have asked her (and the doctor) how far along she was before arresting her in the first place. It would have ended right there. Why in the hell would she intentionally fall down stairs when she could legally get an abortion? IMO - the nurse and/or doctor had an agenda.

Re: Pregnant woman arrested for falling down

I don't know why anyone would throw themselves down a flight of stairs intentionally. but there are weird people out there. Just the same this charge would never stick since there is no proof. She never admitted to throwing herself down the stairs, only thinking about abortion. It's circumstantial

A person would never get convicted of murder because they once thought about it. I feel like I'm in 1984, where's the thought police.

Re: Pregnant woman arrested for falling down

Just a reminder to keep the thread away from the topic of abortion (otherwise we'll have to close it, because that's too volatile of an issue for the site - particularly the main board). Thanks!
