    Would you have finished school

If this was the school policy when you were going? I know it probably would have taken me a couple extra years. One semester on, one off.......

Underage drinking? Colleges may tell mom, dad - Addictions- msnbc.com

At Virginia Tech, the school has operated on a "three strikes" system for years: Students get one strike for a minor alcohol violation and two for a major one things like getting a DUI or vomiting all over a residence hall bathroom. Three strikes and a student is suspended for at least one semester.

DUI's arent funny. Public intox is a passible problem, DUI's are not. VT has had alot of issues in recent times, apparently they are tightening up some.

Yea, but it said this policy has been in place for years, so how much good is it doing then?

I don't have a problem with it...if you are going to drink in the dorms...don't be stupid about it.

If you get caught...man up and face the consequences.

I enrolled in 64 and gaduated in 81. I would have made it just as fast under this system.

I guess. It depends on what you mean by "recent years" and the article means by "policy in place for years". To me if the policy has been in place for a decade and you're saying they've had big drinking problems the last five years still, it's not effective even if it is filtering some students.

If they provided coupons as an incentive to avoid DUIs and such, would that help to curtail them?

If yes, Chris and CF could really provide a major public service.

From now on, every time you say coupon you will get slapped.

and any variety: coup, coupo, pon, cou, etc.

When slapping no longer has effect, we will move onto 24-7 Oprah brainwashing.

I don't know, I think adding a harsh suspension deterrent is a stupid way to go about the problem. Clearly as a group college students are great about thinking about the consequences of their actions ahead of time.

I think Oprah's book club is a form of a coupon.

Where do you stand on the usage of the term "C-Willy fun bucks" as a euphemism for coupons?

So don't get involved in a thread about military coups Erik, just as a heads up.
