    Anyone know anything about cars?

I'm looking at buying this car. I like it cause its cheap and its being sold at a dealership, but if anyone has any advice, I'd be happy to hear it.

    1999 Chrysler 300 M

Be careful with that leather. Make sure its not cracked. I liked the look of the 300m, but my brother in law had a couple that the leather didnt last long in.

That's a lot of miles for an American made vehicle.

Definitely take it to a shop before you buy it to get it inspected. As mentioned above, thats alot of miles. Stuff is bound to be needing replacement. How long are you looking to drive it?

This. Who's going to be driving it and for what? Probably great for a cheap kid's car.

Yea, I'm a college kid just looking for a car. Not planning on driving it long term. Something to drive for a year or two

Should be okay then. But like it was said above, be sure to get it checked out before hand just to be sure.

Getting a Carfox isn't a bad idea either. Not really sure if it's needed in this case though.

Re: Anyone know anything about cars?

Run a carfax as this will give you an idea of how it was taken care of. Would have mechanic look at, but as said before, good deal for 1700.00. Better figure some type of budget for repars the first 6 months. Looks like a buy, you will be the test if it was?

That's what I was going to say. Especially a lot of miles for a Chrysler.

I wouldn't worry about the leather seats, call a company called Dr. Vinyl. They have franchises all over the US, they will come to you and refurbish the leather seats very affordable. As far as the mileage, I wouldn't worry to much about that. It looks like a good clean car to me, you are bound to have some issues with an 11 year old car but for that kind of money I don't think you can go wrong.

Re: Anyone know anything about cars?

Why in this world would anyone run a Carfax on a vehicle that old with 193,000 miles on it? Carfax will not tell you if it has had regular oil changes or if the tranny has been flushed and filled as scheduled. Carfax will tell you about accidents, the title and number of owners. On this old of a car, do you really care about major repairs that have been completed already? If you really are considering buying this old sled spend $100 and take it to your local Midas shop for an inspection. You can take the window sticker off a new car and Midas will find lots of things wrong with it. At least that way you will know what the worst you can expect. Seriously, you can probably expect to spend as much on repair in the next two years as you are spending on the car. Dealership or no dealership, I would bet dollars to donuts there is no warranty on this car. If it breaks in half when you go out dealership's gate, you own both halves. You will strictly be on your own.
