    ISU Guard Play!!

The lack of Guard play on this team is killing us. Every good team ISU has ever had has had really good guards. Diante is not a point guard he is a non shooting two guard. GMAC made a big mistake by not getting better guards. Look at the good guards in the Big 12 it very clear why we are not winning. ISU proved this year it does not matter if you have 2 NBA draft choices in college basketball if you do not have good guards.

I agree with the general point. Good guardplay makes teams good.

But, Diante is third in the Big 12 in assiste/game. I don't think he's great, but they ask him to do an awful lot all things considered.

    Re: ISU Guard Play!!

Yep it is the biggest issue of this team. Not having someone that can step up make hard shots and go off for 30 just becaues is killing this team. That and the fact that we dont have anyone to guard the other teams top guards.

For the record, we had pretty good guards in 2006.

Put anyone of them on this team and we would be talking about a great season.

    Re: ISU Guard Play!!

Diante has played great the last 3-4 games. He is not the problem. It is easy to make him the scapegoat, but he has been solid all year.

    Re: ISU Guard Play!!

There is more to this team not being able to get it done than just guard play.

Who are the two NBA caliber players?

GoShow, you're clearly not happy with any answer if it doesn't include condemnation of the coach.

    We get it.

Agreed. We get it we suck. Whether its players, coaches or administration..who cares? What we have and have had the past few years is not good, and speculate as you may the reason why doesnt matter because no matter what the coach will have to take teh blame.

    Re: ISU Guard Play!!

why does garrett think he can score?

    honestly, anyone else wondering?

he needs to find the two players that actually have a shot at the NBA and let them go to work, im sick of his dribble around, miss a layup, throw a ball out of bounds, miss a jumper gameplan

Making shots is not asking too much. If he could hit water from a boat, defenses wouldn't sag down low all night. He strikes no fear in a defense whatsoever because he can't hit shots. When the defense stretches it's amazing how things open up.

I agree it would obviously help if he was a better shooter. He shoots 43% from the field and 33% from 3pt. Not terrible, but obviously could be better. But I meant he's the only guy that can create his own shot, or create in general really. Almost all of that falls on his shoulders.
