Good for him!! I'm glad he's staying there or at least maybe waiting for the NBA to call... would've been disappointed if he left for Kentucky.

Re: Breaking News! Donovan to stay at Florida

If Donovan really announces this today, i won't doubt it... They'll find someone else. Still think that one of these big programs will look at someone like Bennett from Wash St U or another up and coming coach...

Well said, the big boy blue boosters don't play games with possibilities, they need results, and fast. They don't put stock in promise, and a big name will step in and get the job. What about Few from Gonzaga, Gillespie from A&M, or Barnes from Texas? Just throwin those out there.

i heard Barnes was in the talk.. also heard tom izzo,

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: Breaking News! Donovan to stay at Florida

Dallas Morning News this morning said Barnes was almost final on getting a contract extension, pay raise, and raises for his assistants. I'm guessing he's out of the works.

However, per the "big name needed" post - who are the "big names" available. We throw out 3 Big XII names who were the best teams last season, but that's just big to us. Bennett has been doing well out on the west coast, but no one knows him on here and he's relegated to "prospect". He was the National Coach of the Year. That pretty much puts him up there. Who else could REALISTICALLLY be an option... Self isn't leaving. Billy G would be a great get for UK, but he's no "bigger" than Bennett, and Bennett has the accolades. I'm just throwing this out for good argument, not attacking... :)

Adolph Rupp is making a comeback!

I heard that when the Kentucky people were discussing possible replacements somebody mentioned Pat Summit… This instantly caused Rupp to rise from the dead and he stormed in to Rupp arena screaming, ‘no go***amn woman is coaching my boys!’

Why would Barnes or Gillespie move? Those are bigger name schools than Kentrucky and certainly have more $$.

Texas and A&M are only bigger name schools and have more $$ than UK because THEY ARE FOOTBALL SCHOOLS.

Frankly, no matter how good the team...basketball will always be a distant second to football at schools likes this (this includes Florida).

If you want to have a job where the world revolves around you...UK basketball is an excellent opportunity. Not to mention, they also have tremendous tradition and tremendous facilities.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Kentucky is king in Basketball. However they still don't have Texas money. Texas can pay 5 mill a year if they really want to.
