    That's One Pricey D-League Player

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4946483

Last year's #2 overall pick, Hasheem Thabeet, has been sent down to the Grizzlies D-League affiliate. If I were a GM in the NBA, I would never draft a center in the Top 5 (aside from Cousins, that dude is a beast). It just never seems to work out, and the guards/wings they pass on usually seem to work out well. I am thinking:

    Oden over Durant
    Darko over 'Melo, D-Wade
    Griffin/Thabeet over Evans, Curry, Jennings
Bogut over Deron Williams and Chris Paul

Although I agree with your thought process completely Bogut is a bad example. He does play for the Bucks so he never gets talked about, but he averaged around 17 ppg I think last season and was a beast on the boards too. I think he has averaged a double double, or close to it, the past 3 seasons.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

dominant big men win in the nba, imo. thats why oden being made of glass really hurts. He could have had a chance to be one of the leagues best, battle dwight howard.

This is why they need to have developmental contracts and make the D-league a TRUE minor league.

I think Thabeet will be fine in the long run. He's very skilled. I'm not sure he fits with Memphis' style but that's another story. They should send him to the DLeague if they aren't going to play him. That serves him better than sitting in warm ups every night and being Marc Gasol's punching bag in practice.

While Chris Paul and Deron Williams are beasts, Andrew Bogut is no slouch.... Look at his stats:

I'll take 16 and 10 out of my center for a career... oh yeah... he's only 25.

Re: That's One Pricey D-League Player

Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins says that the team sent rookie center Hasheem Thabeet to the NBDL for his development.
"It's not a demotion. It's development," Hollins said. "To go down there and play gives him an opportunity to grow."
Hollins said that if he has any regret about sending Thabeet to the Dakota Wizards, it's that he didn't make the decision soon.
"He didn't get demoted from anything. He wasn't playing," Hollins said. "I think we don't take advantage of the D-League enough because of people worrying about the PR hit you're going to take. It's like people would rather have a guy sit on the bench and never play versus going to the minor leagues to play. Baseball has been doing it for years, and it works."
Thabeet, the second pick in last June's NBA Draft, is the highest selection to ever be sent to the NBDL.
