Mock Draft has Bulaga going 5th overall????

    NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

I realize Pioli has connections to Ferentz, but Bulaga 5th overall???? Come on, the guy was out for part of the season, and only average in a couple other games this year.

It will be interesting to see how his physical goes and whether his health issues that he had this year will effect him at all.

Re: Mock Draft has Bulaga going 5th overall????

that is the place games are won, both lines of scrimmage.

they had someone on ther radio last season say that NFL coaches rank Iowa as one of top 5 or top 3, somewhere around there, as teams that prepare players the best for the nfl.

now i hope paul rhoades can start to kick there butt by doing the same.

Then came the Orange Bowl, and he whipped Derrick Morgan. He could have come out as a sophomore and been a first day pick at the very least.

Wink Re: Mock Draft has Bulaga going 5th overall????

Three safeties off the board in the first round by pick #21 (Eric Berry, Earl Thomas & Taylor Mays)? I'm no draft expert but I don't see teams putting a premium on that position to this degree! I don't have any foundation for an opinion on Bulaga going fifth, but I do agree this "mock" is suspect...

I read another mock draft recently that had none of these three safeties as the top-rated at the position. I don't recall the kid's name (Eric something) or where he was from, but the writer rated him higher than Berry from Tennessee. I do enjoy the lead-up to the NFL draft; you can almost guarantee that somebody from this first round will end up a third round selection!

I think these teams should just get you're opinion on Bulaga's draft position and they can disregard their experience and knowledge on drafting. That should save them a lot of time and money.

Wow, now I am not going to bash him at all, but watching him every game all year in 2009 I didn't feel he was ready to go the NFL. He had a thyroid problem for a few games and got that straightened out and yes he is a great prospect, but I would push him to a later round myself.

He didn't stop OBrien Scholfield very well and got burned by a few others to give up sacks or TFL's. I wish the kid well, but surprised to see him so high.

Posted by a Hawk fan on same site. Interesting to see that people here think he should go higher than "a fan" of the Hawks.

Unfortunately I believe you are correct. I saw some player rating system linked from a Packer fan-site that rated Kyle Calloway the #10 OT prospect in this draft.

Re: Mock Draft has Bulaga going 5th overall????

Yes... Bulaga had some poor performances at the collegiate level and had some injury problems but the kid does have some serious upside at the NFL level. For all intensive purposes he is still a pretty raw talent and when an NFL OL coach gets their hands on him and get to work him hard on technique etc.... he could be well worth a top 10 pick in the draft.

I thought he did a good job in college and while his technique was decent he definitely had the raw talent to overcome any shortcomings with it.

Not saying I know more than the "experts", but for the money that top 5 players get guaranteed, do you really wanna take that chance?

In this thread alone I've read "kick there but" and "you're opinion" -- c'mon guys, I want to be proud to be an ISU alumn. :)

What were his injuries and shortcomings? Just curious. The only thing I recall on him is being out for his thyroid issue.

Not many guys with 'raw' talent go on the top end of the 1st round. Maybe, just maybe this kid can play? I bet if he were one of our players, you wouldn't describe him as 'raw talent', and needs technique coaching.......
