How many butts were in the seats for NU?

I will admit that I wasn't at the game. On TV it looked and sounded like there were maybe 5 or 6 thousand people at the game, I know paid attendance was over 11,000 which is good but how many people do you think were actually there? Does that matter to Pollard?

I thought there was probably between 7000-8000. I think you could fill up the lower level and still have some people in the balcony. Not sure how many fit in the lower level---6000?

And the crowd was really quiet.

Isn't are capacity about 14,000? I'd say it was at least well over half full. There's no way it was only 6,000.

Just an fyi the microphones that they use on tv and radio are directional so they only pick up what is directly spoken into them so they cut out 90% of the surrounding noise. You still hear the crowd and such to a degree but it is tremendously quieter than it actually is.

I caught the second half on TV after taking my confirmation-age kids to the mandatory Lenten church service! From the camera angle, it appeared there were quite a few empty lower level seats...

There were, but not a whole lot more than normal. Just about any game (including KU and Iowa) you'll find a lot of empty lower level seats.

as the second half went along the older people that generally sit in those areas made their normal pilgrimage to the concourse so they can get out quickly, so yes with a four point game and 30 seconds or whatever was left most people were already on the concourse watching the end and sprinting to the car.

Re: How many butts were in the seats for NU?

I was at the game -- very disappointed with the number of students in Cyclone Alley. Capacity is 14,356 and paid attendance was 11,163. I would estimate actual attendance to be slighlty over 8,000. I did think that the crowd that was there did an excellent job; especially during the 2nd half-run. Loudest time was after the DG-Brackins highlight reel alley-oop. I also got a kick out of the Bronx Cheer after Dendy made his first free-throw.

But yet you forgot to mention the 1/3 full student section that was doing the same thing.

Yes they were. If we had gone into overtime would they make them go back to their seats? I was back home in Des Moines by 9:30 and I stayed in my seats for about five extra minutes talking to sone Husker fans behind us.

Re: How many butts were in the seats for NU?

I never leave early. I'm of the attitude that players need to play hard for 40 minutes and fans need to cheer hard for 40 minutes. Players need to play hard despite the record and fans should show-up and cheer loud despite the record.
