    Heavyweight for next year?

I noticed Big Z is our only HWT and he will be gone next year. What are we going to do for next year? I assume we will have someone coming in, but who? Thanks and sorry for my wrestling incompetence, I'm still new to the sport.

He didn't make grades. He is at DMACC this semester. He's expected to be back at ISU in the fall.

    Re: Heavyweight for next year?

we have a kid from the rio grande valley who was the state champ last year in texas.he was at 180 last year .they shuffled the classes in the weights this year and he is now in the 189 lb class,is undefeated with 38 victories.his name is sam mangum and sam is expected to be a texas state champion this next week.
leroy jackson should be on him this week as i have sent the info to pollard's secretary.i just talked to his coach craig krell and told him not to committ to anyone until coach jackson had a chance to talk to him.he has been to wrestling camp at okie state for three
years in a row.he is 189,6-1 and about 4 per cent body fat.that is a pretty lean dude.okie state and boise state are recruiting this kid very heavily.
coach krell told me there is a heavyweight kid named nico(sp.) in san antonio or in houston area that is 48 and 0 this season. i am going to scour the san antonio paper and houston paper online and see where nico is going to school. i will know more by tomorrow about this nico kid.i am going to shout for all you deaf cyclone fanatics/GO CYCLONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless there is an ELITE juco out there than maybe but any other juco is probably not any better than someone in the room right now. BTW im pretty sure long will fill in at 133 next year.

    Re: Heavyweight for next year?

What does everybody think the lineup looks like next year? If Long goes 133, who takes over at 125? Any other possible changes? Here's just something for discussion...

    125: Long SO
    133: Cash FR
    141: Gallick?/Jensen JR
    149: Weatherman FR/Jensen JR
    157: Sorenson JR
    165: Reader SR
    174: Spangler SO
    184: Beard FR
    197: Ward JR
    HWT: Thompson SO

Because his name can be said by anyone!”

125 will probably be Dearden or possibly Ryak Finch Who will be a true freshman. He is ranked first nationally at 119 so who knows.

    Re: Heavyweight for next year?

Could have been Ron Coleman who won state four times including heavyweight (wrestled at 255 pounds) two times and 215 two times. He plays running back at 230 pounds.

    Mentoring the Miners | TheUnion.com

This guy actually beat ET at the harold nichols open like 8-2 this year...He's pretty tall like 6'6....If nothing else he will provide some depth and he does have 3 yrs worth of wrestling left..

    Re: Heavyweight for next year?

the heavyweight from texas is nico carlson.this kid is about 6-5 and 270. he is from katy texas.he is a very aggressive smooth heavyweight kid. he is a 2 star footballer and is pledged to rice for football. i wote coach paul rhoads and coach kevin jackson about him. i suggested thatthey pull him away from rice for both football and for wrestling. this kid could be another curvey on defense. rice is a very good academic school and generally their athletes are very good academic students. i suggested to rhoads and jackson that they get a brainiac schollie for this kid so they would not waste a sports schollie on him.
he is one of the better high school heavy weights i have seen. texas is going to be a place to recruit wrestlers.don't tell cale sanderson about that.wrestlers in texas are abundant and there r starting to be some very good wrestlers in texas high schools.we currently have over 253,000 high school kids out for wrestling in texas high schools. texas will become a good state for recruiting wrestlers and for footballers.
