    What's up with women's gymnastics???

Looks like things aren't going so well. Last place finish at the conference meet with just under 194 points...ouch!

Wasn't their average just 194 this year?

Are there only four women's gymnastics teams in the conference?

So what's up with this? I know we got a new coach. Did we lose a lot of talent?

Well, that's not as bad as it initially seems. However, the gymnastics team has not seemed to live up to their expectations after being ranked in the top ten to start the season.

We lost last year's coach to Oklahoma. That's the problem. We couldn't afford to keep her, so she left, and then we got Jay.

Who, I might add, is a really good coach... Please don't think otherwise.

Yes, we have a really young team. Something like half the team are freshmen. They had an incredibly strong season up until the last few meets. They certainly earned their #6 ranking, but they started to have troubles on beam, and it continued through every meet from then on. Very mystifying to see girls that typically get almost-perfect scores start to actually fall off the beam mid-routine. I don't know what's happened, but that's why scores have been low. They've been doing quite well in overall scores, but when you're up against both Nebraska and Oklahoma, you can't afford to be missing one entire event from your lineup.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

I agree Orny, Jay isn't quite as good as the coach that we had last year (I forget her name), sorry to say. Beam ****** me off so much once conference started... At least we rocked on the floor routine though!

Amen. Janet Anson is one of the best floor performers I've ever seen in my life. Losing her is going to hurt next season, but at least Katie Sweetin is doing some of the same stuff as Janet, in terms of accomplishments.

True, but Katie has nothing on Megan Barnes. Wow, I'd love to have that floor routine performed in my room ;) Also, Jasmine Thompson.

Re: What's up with women's gymnastics???

I just meant that in the AA, Sweetin will be just as much of a contributor to the score as Anson has been. I don't particularly care for Katie's floor routine, though- that's not what I was talking about. Yeah, Megan Barnes is the other knock-em-dead floor performer. I'm curious to know who choreographs those- whoever it is could have one hell of a career as a professional dance/stage choreographer.

You completely missed that the only thing I was referring to was that those two are gorgeous, and Katie's too short. Sheesh, c'mon!

I just flat out "Love" those girls! They are so talented in what many deem gymnastics as the most physically demanding sport in the world. Best wishes & best of luck Cyclone ladies!!!!
