I never have wished for any Cyclone team to lose before, but....

... could that possibly be the best possible scenario right now? Follow me here.

    1. GMac WILL be the coach next year. That is a given. JP cannot afford to go get anyone else.

    2. This year is a lost cause. No NCAA, no NIT, no nothing.

    3. ISU finishing last in the league will not shine a very good light on CB or MG's NBA future for next season.

    4. If CB and MG figure they won't get drafted, they'll come back.

    5. With those two back, we "could" be pretty good next year. Without those two, we are nearly starting over completely again.

So at this point, if I'm only thinking about my greedy selfish Cyclone wishes... I actually want us to not finish well and for CB and MG to be back again.

I don't think you need to root for it. The lifeless effort that they put out today ought to take care of it all by itself. I have never seen so little passion and energy. Looks like they have quit to me.

I was at the game and it looked nothing like this team had quit. They looked to fight hard, just couldn't get a shot to fall, continued to make alot of the same mistakes that have plagued them this conference season. I am extremely frustrated, but will not accuse this team of quitting.

Well its a good thing its not actually about you. Craig and Marquis should do what is best for them whatever that is. If they are back, that is great and maybe we will have some success, but its pretty ignorant imo to think that winning or losing these remaining games will have much impact on that

They should do what's best for them. With that said, niether one is NBA ready. If Stinson and Blalock weren't good enough, then these two are certainly are not good enough. If Fizer wasn't good enough to make a splash, then Brackins is not likely to make much of a splash in the league either. Gilstrap doesn't handle the ball well enough for a 3 to play at the next level, not to mention he's lazy on the court, I get tire of watching him coast down the court dragging his feet. WIth a 24 sec. shot clock at that pace, he'll never cut it. just sayin'

You might be right about their draft potential, I have no idea. I don't follow the NBA nearly as close as once did and really don't follow the draft. Craig Brackins 2008-2009 is an NBA prospect, I doubt he lost that ability. Gilstrap, I have no idea - my uneducated evaluation is that better offensively than Rashon Clark, but defensively not even close and I loved Rashon's game but never expected him to go NBA.

Between the two, I only see Brackins possibly being back next year. Gilstrap's fate is in the hands of the NCAA. The NCAA is usually only merciful in granting a "sixth year" in the case of repeated injuries. Injuries have never been a factor in his situation, so there is about a 0% chance he'll be back next year.

I think this is the 4 straight time after a loss we had a thread started just like this one. Seriously this could be brought up after every game lately.

He lost that classification. The fact that he hasn't gotten better is really going to turn GMs and scouts away.

Uh, he had a badly broken left leg that kept him out of basketball.

wasn't a knee injury the reason he quit basketball?

I am pretty sure it was his left leg.

While I don't know what Brackins draft stock will be, but do you really think the last few games can really impact that at this point?

A few more wins or losses on this team isn't going to make or break his draft stock.
