    MBB season= total failure

Someone explain to me why this statement isn't accurate? What good can we possibly salvage from this season?

I don't really see any... with the exception that we're seeing some good things from Justin Hamilton. What else?

What are we getting better at? Seriously.

The fact is, this season started with a TON of promise. GMac could hardly contain his excitement. Brackins had come back. Gilstrap was coming in. Depth had never been better. We had inside guys in Ham, Brackins, Dendy, JVB, and outside shooting with Staiger, Christopherson, Boozer. We were 3 deep at PG with DG, Buck, and Colvin. We were loaded. NCAA here we come!

Then we lose JVB for the season. Then Boozer. Then Colvin gets suspended. Then Staiger quits. Then Christopherson gets mono. Then Dendy takes a little leave of absense and gets "suspended".

Brackins hasn't improved at all this season. Gilstrap looks like the same player that walked in the door from day one... he's good, but out of control and hasn't looked like he's learned anything. DG is DG... lazy passes, can't convert in the lane, still can't shoot or get anyone the ball once he's penetrated. Outside of Big Ham, where's the improvement individually or as a team?

This season has been a TOTAL FAILURE. And our two best players are probably gone next year. And who knows about guys like Dendy or Colvin? Will they be back? We will basically be starting over once again next year in what... GMac's 6th year is it now... with nothing to build on.

I don't know what the answer is folks? I do believe that GMac is one of the finest guys you'll ever meet. I also think he can coach. But is this level of basketball a bit too much for him? He can't seem to get players to stay here for whatever reason? And they don't seem to play real hard and respond to his coaching. Too many stupid mistakes to overcome.

There just isn't a way to sugarcoat what has happened this year. It's been worse than any of us could have expected. And what is there to look forward to next season if CB and MG aren't back? What can I take from this season to get me excited going into next season?

The good thing about college basketball is that we can still win the Big 12 Championship, and even the National Championship. I'm not saying we will, but you never know.
If that happens, I wouldn't call the season a total failure.

Well you know, a team is often a reflection of it's coach!

Failure is an appropriate word to describe this season. I think we all knew it was coming after the Northwestern and UNI losses. That ruined everything.

I was hoping we could have another thread to say this same thing!

Have we hit today's quota of dwelling on this topic yet? Or will this thread just say the same stuff again?

So people should just not discuss it then? I'd bet if we were a top team in the Big 12 and people were posting daily about how good we are - not a single person would gripe about that.

We're bad, really bad. And vastly underachieving. The fact that people still care enough to talk about it is much better than the alternative.

We are vastly underachieving. Not disputing that.

I don't see where dwelling on it is helping anybody. That really isn't better than the alternative. All it does is make an angry person angrier, and a sad person sadder.

Of course you can discuss it, just do it in the other 15,125,169 threads saying the same thing. It gets rather annoying seeing the same type of threads pop up day after day.

So is consistently losing. So it's ok to not ignore these threads and complain about them consistently - but not ok to consistently complain about the real issue that actually matters?

angry, sad, and stopped trying to figure out why we aren't winning after the NW game...fact is everyone knows it isn't happening, so some want to defend the coach, others support the players, and others just complain about everything (and some in multiple new threads as if this hadn't been addressed 1,000 times before).

    Just seeing it and responding.

I agree that this thread isn't helping, so I'll retire from this one.
