    Coach Fennelly Interview

Heads up - there's a great 20-minute interview of Coach F just posted on cyclones.com. I love that guy. He's so honest and good.

Toward the end of the interview he was asked if he ever considered leaving ISU, and he said that yes he "came real close twice" to leaving for another job. I had heard from a reliable source awhile back that Texas offered him their job and after he said no Gail Goestenkors was their back-up plan.

Regardless, we are all so happy and grateful that BF continues to be our coach. What a class act, and year in and year out one of the best in the nation.

I sure hope he gets a Final Four before he retires!

I don't think he was happy when Pollard got rid of McCarney

Just think how mad he will be when Pollard shows mercy on the Men's basketball program and fires GMAC.....

I think Ohio State went after him hard back in 2002 when they eventually hired Jim Foster. Wisconsin went after him once as well, probably in 2003 when they ended up with Lisa Stone. I don't know that he ever really seriously considered Wisconsin, but the Ohio State thing was very serious.

Is his $$$ comparable to other top coaches?? I'm sure Summit and Geno make way more than everyone else.

There is no doubt that based on the results BF has had at ISU that if he had gone to a program with a better budget for Women's basketball that he would have a NC ring or two on his fingers. The guy is really that good of a coach. He and his staff are great recruiters. How many athletes have they brought in to ISU that have done nothing vs. How many they have brought in that become some of the best players in the Big XII conference?

Yes I don't think its coincidence that soon after tx hired GG, BF got his big 'lifetime' (2019) contract. He makes a cool half mil, with plenty of additional incentives (more $$) for winning that he doesn't have a problem meeting.
