    Transfer Credits

I have credits from high school via a community college (ICCC) and I got an A in every class for all 27 of them. However, none of the grades transfer to my current GPA. I looked at Iowa's website and they count the grades on those credits into your current GPA.

Is this just a testament to ISU trying to be stronger academically? It really sucks because I could basically cruise through college if I had 27 credits worth of As as padding.

    Re: Transfer Credits

Community college courses only count towards your GPA if they come with a degree. I had 32 credits of A grades like that back in 1992. That's just how it is.

Don't they have 2 different GPAs? One at ISU and one total?

Yep, welcome to the joy of ISU being a strong academic institution, especially for your ag biochem major... You can still cruise though by taking a lighter load of classes because you are almost a sophomore before you even start here.

Another advantage you get with the credits is that you get to choose your classes earlier.

Not saying I know, I just thought I heard that. All my undergrad credits were at ISU, so I don't know.

Nerd credits for me: I actually have my transcripts right next to me (from a job application a few months ago). There's only one GPA listed on there, unfortunately.

Ah, ok, maybe I heard them talking about this in one of my classes about how to do it on your resume or something.

your gpa resets as a transfer, however, you still put your total gpa on ur resume.

    Re: Transfer Credits

Alright that makes sense, it just sucks because this is a tough major. I'm definitely not taking light loads haha I took 17 credits both semesters. I did that so I'll be a junior next semester. I plan on getting a masters so im attempting to just shave a year off of college (and loans lol). So its pretty tough to keep a high GPA to keep up with people in easier majors, especially in Ag because there are a lot of easier ag majors

Untrue. I brought an AA to ISU with a 3.75 and started with a clean slate.

ISU is the only public university in the state that won't transfer a GPA from a community college. UNI and Iowa will. Don't know why.

    Re: Transfer Credits

I don't think they transfer GPA from anywhere. My fiancee transferred her junior year from a 4-year college in Minnesota and I'm pretty sure she got clean slated as well. I think it actually helped hers a little bit.
