Thanks for putting that together chrishull14, effort much appreciated. With the youngsters we have on this years team it seems to me the catalyst to our success is Lacey. I got a kick out of the very fine but tiny IU point guard Kamile Wahlin's comments when she was discussing having to guard Allison. She was begrudging how tall, long and strong Allison is and the difficulty guarding her, add to that she is a senior so that makes her mature as well.

I'm always impressed at how Alison is able to take on those superfast small guards. You'd think with her height, they would give her trouble, but they just do not.

In his post game comments yesterday Bill Fennelly said not only do the other players listen to Allison but so does he. That is quite a compliment when you think about it. http://www.cyclonefanatic.com/forum/...aylor-win.html

Not a shock that most of the leader board comes from Fennelly's era...

What impresses me also is how hard Lacey runs the defense. I don't see other guards on other teams directing the team defense like she does.

These records just remind me how good Tracy Gahan (my all-time favorite) was. #10 in scoring despite never being the #1 (or even #2) offensive option. #5 in rebounds despite not being a post player. #5 in assists despite not being a point guard.

She's real fun to watch. Looks like she might be next in line to get her jersey retired. I didn't realize her impact on the record books was that great.

minus the pg part, I think this is the same thing that makes Aus so deceptively great. She has put up great numbers on what have still been largely ensemble teams with no true stars. Until this year anyway.

Also the sign of a good coach.

I find it ironic that just a few weeks ago some were complaining that a certain coach was listening to one of his veteran players before making a decision. Now I read it's a sign of a good coach. It's amazing how winning affects how we look at things.

I just find it hilarious how people are always surprised with how well the women do year in and year out.

Re: Cyclone Career Stats: Alison Lacey

Harry, I haven't spoken out for or against Coach Mac yet. But I do know that good coaches listen to what their players are saying whether the team is winning or not. It lets the players know that they are part of the team, gets the "buy in" that the coach needs, and lets the players know that the coaches have some confidence in them.

If I were a basketball coach I would make sure I talked to Fennelly as much as I could (I assume he's got a coaches clinic or something?) cause the dude knows what he's doing.

You can spend a lot of time and money picking out the perfect floral bouquet for your date ... but you're probably better off checking if you have bad breath and taking the porn out of the glove compartment.

The moral: you gain more by not being stupid, than you do by being smart. Smart gets neutralized by other smart people. Stupid does not.
