    Props to Big Ham

I'm really excited about how Hamilton is progressing. We need to remember that this guy is still a true sophomore, and didn't even start playing basketball until his junior year in HS or something like that?

There were times last night where I thought I was watching Jared Homan out there! Ham is starting to become much more aggressive. I like it... a lot!

Don't get me wrong, he still has a ways to go, but he's really becoming a big asset out there IMO.

As for the team... I was extremely proud of this team last night. The effort was really good and they never gave up. Even the announcers were heaping a lot of praise on our team for not giving up and fighting back.

We cannot imagine just how hard it is to play in Allen Fieldhouse against a high pressure defense, one of the best in the country, with basically only 7 or 8 players. Unfortunately we had 4 bad minutes out of 40, and that cost us the game. But we played the #1 team in the country toe-to-toe on their home court for 36 of 40 minutes. That's encouraging to me anyway.

I can agree with all of that. Ham is going to be very good. I like his work ethic.

    Re: Props to Big Ham

    Totally agree.

And, I really think he has more of an offensive game than he lets on with this team. I think that will show next year. I think he has some decent post moves, and definitely has a good mid-range game.

I'm excited to see what he becomes. That follow-up dunk was pretty awesome last night.

Big Ham is going to be a force when he learns to be a little more agressive going to the hoop on the offensive side. Just go in and dunk that **** big man!!!

I think our "bigs" are just fine this year..... Certainly as good or better than the "bigs" we had the year after Fizer left. I just wish we had some guards that could take advantage of them more.

    Re: Props to Big Ham

Ham is playing like he gets it, and he could become one of the best big men by the end of his time here.

Also I need to give DG props on a great first half. That may have been his best 1/2 as a clone. Wish he could put a whole game together.

I agree, Ham has been playing great in his extended role.

    Re: Props to Big Ham

Hamilton looked good. The team played a nice half. If they can play competitively and win some games again no one expects them to win and somehow find a way to go dancing again in the next couple years, MCD will get some believers again. in the meantime I agree its nice to see some positive development of a player like Hamilton.

    Re: Props to Big Ham

Ham also took at least two charges, and stayed in there for a couple of others that could have been charges.

Plus, I still marvel at how he transformed his body. Here he is not so very long ago:

    Re: Props to Big Ham

That is one good side to McD, he can teach and coach big guys. I just wish we had an awesome assistant or someone that could help develop guards.

I am really excited about next year for Hammy. If Brackins and Gilstrap leave (wish is very likely) Hammy will become the key force down low. Lets just hope the guard play can get a lot better next year.

    Re: Props to Big Ham

If he plays like he has been, he will be a double/double guy nightly when he graduates.

    Something like 14 and 10 I'd guess.

Probably get a look at a reserve type role on a pro team also.

    Re: Props to Big Ham

He started growing a goatee last timeI saw him too. If he gets an edgy haircut he'll be following the Jared Homan progression arc perfectly. Homan was timid and lanky when he showed up too. Once he found some aggression he became a very good inside player. Hammy might have even more potential, and it looks like he's starting to get a taste for contact.
