Yeah, and I like to have John Wooden when he was in his prime, but neither is going to happen. Can we have one potential new coach thread without "I want Eustachy or Floyd"? Good lord people, these guys AREN'T coming back. Even if they wanted to, which I doubt, they wouldn't even get an interview (and rightly so). Let it go!!!

    Re: Quin Snyder

LE got paid~$380 K at S Miss last year. He gave $25 K of that back to the University because of the poor economy / budget problems. He might be more interested in ISU than any of us think.
I know it would be very difficult to get the administration to buy in but stranger things have happened.

Here's a blog that's admittedly slanted, but gives plenty of pause for thought.

The Zou: The Lowlights of Quin's Career

Granted, there was some success, but the underachievement and the scandalous parts pretty much counterbalance that.

The streak includes the worst home loss in 25 years (82-58 to ISU)
    Does this still stand?

I had trouble finding archived Missouri results, but I'm pretty sure it's still intact.

Side note: That was also WM's last road win.

    Re: Quin Snyder

Quinn is certainly outside the box but highly unlikely. In addition to his disregard for the NCAA rules, he is also alleged to have slept w/ the girlfriends of multiple players including Linus Kleiza (thus causing him to turn pro early).

I doubt he is the guy we are looking for.

If you are on a search, you really should look up Scott Sutton (not Sean- the good one). He is considered by many to be among the biggest up and coming coaches for several years now. Don't think it will do any good but....

    Go Cyclones!

To go the mid-major up-and-comer route, I still say the coach has to have a tournament shocker or at least some head-turning regular-season wins against majors — cases of "coaching up." Of ORU's 3 auto-bid appearances, they lost as a 16 seed (which is normal), and as a 14 and 13 —*and neither of those losses were close.

ORU does have a win over Mizzou this year, and the UNM win is decent. Won at Stanford, but that team is terrible. No signature wins the year before. Beat OSU in 07-08 ... OSU was 16-14.

And I'm counting wins only, no "almost wins." We have a few of those right now.

On some level, I agree w/ you as ORU did struggle last year. To say he has had no success against big foes is incorrect. He usaully schedules up in the non conf every year and it has usually paid off for his squad.
    From the ORU web-

Signature wins have also been a trademark of the Sutton era. Over the past 10 seasons, ORU has defeated the likes of Arkansas, Georgetown, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall, USC, and five wins overcross-town rival Tulsa. Most impressive was ORU’s 78-71 win at No. 3 Kansas on Nov. 15, 2006.Since the start of the 2001-02 season, Sutton has guided the Golden Eagles to a 159-90 (.639) mark. During that same span, ORU has finished either first or second in the conference standings seven times.

This is a coach from a great pedigree (Iba tree, a Sutton and worked for Bill Self) who has a great set of values (hard to fathom that he is realted to Scott) and who has seen bigtime hoops while in Kentucky and @ OSU. Additionally, he has turned down overtures for bigger jobs so continuity is a possibility for this hire. (and his dad loves ISU's support- almost came here when we snagged Maury John from Drake)

Nothing will come from this but any school could do worse than this guy.

And the regime we have now is? He also beat one of our better teams in our history in a game with numerous OT's...
    1999-2000 Missouri 18-13 10-6 6th NCAA 1st Round
    2000-2001 Missouri 20-13 9-7 6th NCAA 2nd Round
    2001-2002 Missouri 24-12 9-7 6th NCAA Elite Eight
    2002-2003 Missouri 22-11 9-7 5th NCAA 2nd Round
    2003-2004 Missouri 16-14 9-7 6th NIT 1st Round
    2004-2005 Missouri 16-17 7-9 8th NIT 1st Round
    2005-2006 Missouri 10-11 3-7 11th
    Missouri: 126-91 (.581) 56-50 (.528)

Not a good coach huh....I guess when a coach has an above .500 record in conference....Coaches have had indiscretions in the past...and they still get jobs elsewhere...i.e. John Calipari...He only had a season where he didn't play in the postseason....What is the outrage about hiring a coach with past discretions? Forgive and forget...thats a solid motto take heed too...

He had issues off the court, big time. He had a lot of talent at MU and didnt do much with it.
