    Brittany Griner

Just got back from seeing the not so great Brittany Griner play ISU. She scored a whole 10 points. She could do four things.

Foul (over the back, slap while blocking the shot)

    Make free throws

Block Shots(I suppose this would fit under foul but?)

    and

Dunk in warm-ups(thought this was a technical but I guess not)

That havent called Ts for dunking in warmups for years.

She was also triple teamed every play, not just double teamed.

Easy there champ, everyone has an off-game and today was definitely one of hers. Also, give credit to the Cyclone women for taking her out of the gameplan offensively and not making her a game-changer on defense. Watch her the rest of the season and I bet you'll change your thinking on the "not so great Brittany Griner".

    Re: Brittany Griner

I was at the game, were you? She was all they had. Nobody from Baylor looked like they could shoot from the outside .......The whole team just didn't show up.....Baylor was never in this game ever. 16-2, 20-5 and double the score on Baylor till Fennelly put in the shock reserves and coasted to a 24 point win.

Don't try to tell us Baylor is really that good, we just showed they are living on last yr's reputation. we exposed their weaknesses and exploited them to a win. their player #3 went out in the first half, with ISU leading by 20.

Got any other little stories to tell us?

Why do people try to downplay the opponent like this? Why say things like "Don't try to tell us Baylor is really that good," when you could say "Iowa State just mopped up the 11th-ranked team in the nation starring a freshman phenom that had scored triple-doubles in her last two games"?

Baylor is in the top class of women's basketball and has been for the past few years. We should be proud that we absolutely dismantled them. We should recognize it demonstrates our strength and potential, not their weakness.

Was it just me, or did watching her feel like watching an Avatar that wasn't blue.

    Re: Brittany Griner

ISU threw a lot of bodies at her and I am not so sure that the Clones would not have gotten in some serious foul problems on the road. They were bodying her pretty good out there. Good game plan by BF.

    Re: Brittany Griner

She suffers from the Brackins syndrome. When your guards can't hit an outside shot the defense can collapse down on you making you have to work twice as hard to get a shot.

But Brackins can still find ways to get a shot and score.

First, I really don't understand what majorcyfan is so upset about, however, although I do agree with you in principle, Baylor is way over rated. I'm really beginning to think they should not even be in the top 25. They have conference loses to NU, OU, ISU, OSU, Tex, and MISSOURI. Why are they ranked #11? How many teams have you ever heard of having 7 loses and ranked #11? Men's or Women's?

I know ISU was ranked 11th last year with 9 loses, but that was after the post season, not with 6 games to go in conference.

I'll agree that BU is overrated, and was shocked to see they are still ranked that highly with a (now) 4-6 conference record. They should take a huge hit in the rankings next week, and deservedly so. With that said, I've seen a couple of their other games on TV this season and Baylor can be a tough team. The Big XII is the toughest conference, and Fennelly's game plan made them look worse than they are.

He has the moves to do so, but when we have shooters he can work without being double teamed every play. For Griner, Fennely had one defender in front and one behind. Not just a double team when she got th eball, but all the time. If your team can't shoot them out of that defense then you have no chance of scoring.
