NORMAN, Okla.—The No. 16 Iowa State gymnastics team more than held its own at No. 1 Oklahoma Friday evening, as the Cyclones delivered their highest score (196.225) this season. OU answered ISU’s upset bid with a season-high score in its 197.250-196.225 victory at the Lloyd Noble Center in front 1,775 fans at the Sooners’ Beauty and the Beast event where OU gymnastics and wrestling competed simultaneously.

In addition to posting its season-best score, the Cyclones registered at least a 49.000 on each of the four events for the fist time this season. Adding to Iowa State’s strong showing was the fact the Cyclones had a make-shift lineup as all-arounder Jody McKellar was only able to compete on bars due to an ankle injury sustained last week.
