    Hunter S. Thompson going ballistic

Fear and Loathing On a Tech Support Call - Huntersthompson - Gizmodo

This is absolutely hilarious. Hunter S. Thompson making an angry call to tech support about his new DVD player. As you would imagine, extremely rough language. NSFW, most likely.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

I still miss Hunter. The man was a genius. Bat **** crazy, but a genius nonetheless.

Is it an urban legend that he kind of locked Johnny Depp in his basement to experience his "worldview" before filming Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? I've heard that, and from what I've heard of Thompson, it doesn't seem like much of a stretch.

I heard that story as well, but I have no idea if it's true. So much of Thompson was the persona. Who really knows if he did half of the things that he claimed to have done? The image that he created is crazy enough that you believe that he could have done those things, but who knows? Although Ralph Steadman, the artist who worked with Thompson very closely over the years, claims that a lot of it is true. He was there, for example, for the infamous Kentucky Derby fiasco, and he claims that everything that Thompson wrote actually happened. Then again, if Thompson's story is true, then Steadman wasn't in any condition to remember much.

IIRC, I think Depp was the one that claimed it as well. I think it's on the "deluxe edition" or something like that for FLLV. Thompson was so ****ed up all the time, and it was pretty noticeable that it isn't out of the blue to think he would do something like that.
