    Up the pressure

We have a fairly fast team. With the exception of JH, the team is able to get up and down the floor pretty quickly. Why aren't we using this speed to our advantage? It's obvious we aren't a great half-court team, unless CB and MG are hitting. Why don't we try more traps and presses and push the ball up the floor? We're doing an average job of running the floor now, but if we created some more turnovers and got a few more easy baskets, that would take a lot of the load of CB and MG. Plus, this would get some more guys off the bench, if only to give the normal players a quick breather. Just a thought.

No depth. We would run ourselves to death.

Not enough bodies to throw out there now, we did this earlier in the year.

    Re: Up the pressure

Not deep enough. This team had trouble not running out of gas down the stretch before the injuries, discipline and defections.

This wasn't a problem for Morgan's teams. Are we just not conditioned well enough?

Don't confuse hope for a plan.

We are trying some of this, although I wish we would do it as a change of defense to surprise the opponent. Lately we've been doing this as a desperate move to try to get back into games. FYI though, you can't trap and press good teams all game long, they'll murder you with transition offense.

    Re: Up the pressure

exactly to bring pressure you need to have depth or your guys will be dying in the 2nd half... we have 0 depth... esp at guard, well and forward, and well center.. pretty much 0 depth everywhere.

    Re: Up the pressure

I realize we couldn't do it all game, and yea our depth is a little shaky, but we need to do something to get out of this rut we've fallen into.

Right. You don't really want to press KU full court. MU got killed doing that. KU has you right were they want you when you press. They are more mistake prone when you pick them up at half court.

    Re: Up the pressure

Our defense is already awful, and now you want to put everyone out there without any immediate help? Sounds like a recipe for disaster worse than the defense we already don't play.

    Re: Up the pressure

I definitely wouldn't say our defense is awful. Our defensive rebounding is awful I'll give you that, but not our defense overall

Who is running the break? Colvin is too wild, Gilstrap is too wild, every team just sinks into the lane now because there isn't a 3 point shooter to kick out to. Our defense is awful and a trap leaves the other team with a one man advantage when we struggle to defend one on one. Traps and presses take the energy out of our legs we don't have. More guys off the bench? Uh, who?

In regards to defense, our help is awful. Dendy and Gilstrap try to block every shot instead of trying to stay in position, Brackins provides zero help and backs away. Our guards can't stop penetration which leaves the bigs hanging out to dry. The bigs don't help much, leaving the guards in no man's land.
