In all seriousness...I am looking forward to a canada-Russia hockey match.

Oh yeah, the US has no chance at getting the most medals. The best that they can hope for is 3rd in the medal count.

Re: OFFICIAL THREAD: Olympics Opening Ceremonies.

My uncle is the USOC Ombudsman and has been sending updates throughout the week. Apparently there might be some troubles with the skiing as temperatures have been in the upper 50's for the past week. Also, he has probably worked or participated in about 10 different Olympics (summer and winter) and he said that this years Olympic Village is by far the nicest. Athletes are staying in condos that will be sold after the games for upwards of a cool million. For the past week, he has been in charge of looking after the womens curling team. If you have time, watch for Nicole Joraanstad of the US Womens Curling team. Not sure if shes any good at curling, but shes definitely good looking in my book.

Re: OFFICIAL THREAD: Olympics Opening Ceremonies.

Having the opening ceremonies in a dome really widens the fashion spectrum for outfits.

My 5 and 3 year old sons want to know where Mario and Sonic will be.

I really like the racing events. (sleding, skiing, speedskating)

Figure skating is about as credible as pro wresting.

I really like the Olympics. You won't be able to walk 10ft in Vancouver without bumping into a great human-interest story. For most athletes, it truly is for national pride and for love of the game.

    olympic opening ceremony

The introduction of countries appears to be in alphabetical order, so why the hell did Greece go first? anyway, IMO the big opening was weak compared to what beijing did a couple years ago. I guess it is Canada though, so I wasn't really expecting too much!

Did you listen to the part where they said the cultural/ big show part of the ceremony will be coming after the athletes enter?
