    Wally's Other Son

How Skip Holtz, South Florida Bulls saved 2010 recruiting class - Andy Staples - SI.com

I'm surprised to read that Wally has another son in the coaching profession. Not sure whether he is retained and if not, there's a plan to hire and utilize him here for the Cyclones.

Overall, it's a very interesting article especially related to the attitude of football coaches facing uncertainty:

"In any other business, a man on the cusp of firing might simply choose to leave, but football coaches rarely do. Coaches accept the fact that staffs turn over, that families get uprooted. If a lame-duck coach deliberately tanks a recruiting assignment because he knows he is about to get fired, that act would follow him into his search for his next job. The coaching fraternity is that tight-knit."

    Re: Wally's Other Son

I don't think he was retained when Holtz was hired. At least his name isn't under the coaching staff at USF.

Todd Fitch? Was he at ISU at some point in time?

    Fitch former QB's coach here.

    Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
    'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Probably that explains why Scott Fountain stayed until after the LOI signing day.

Not sure whether this is a norm in Basketball. Last time I remember, Calipari brought his recruits to UK.

I don't think he actually coached with Chiz, he got hired by ECU as O-Coordinator and left before spring ball.
