    Cyclone Trivia Night

Who's been a Cyclone Trivia participant? I have been in a group for the past two years. We've done alright. Luckily I'm with some guys that know a little about a lot, but not much about anything. Anyway, if you are considering it, its a heck of a good time, and the drinks are free.

    Re: Cyclone Trivia Night

I have done it the last 3 years and it is a GREAT time! Now that they have it the same time as the Spring Game and VEISHA, it's even that much better. It's a great way to meet the coaches! My teams have been horrible but I can honestly say I have never gone for the Trivia!
    I recommend it to ALL!

We've had a table every year. We did really well the first two, finishing fourth both times, but slipped to 7th last year. We're determined to place this year! Always a great time.

    Re: Cyclone Trivia Night

7th is pretty impressive. Weren't there 70 or so teams last year? I'm pretty sure the year 2008 there were 40 some, so the deal is growing by leaps and bounds.

I went last year for the first time...great event. Met Jim Hallihan. Talked with coach Rhoads...found out on his frist stint he was the main recruiter on a family friend of ours that ended up at I-State. Met Chris Ash and coach Rutter. Didn't care much about the trivia...we just tried to see if our cup pyramid was the highest.

That's half the challenge of the trivia night, coming up with answers to questions while nowhere near sober.

Never been. Sounded too much like if you didn't really know trivia, people would wonder why you're there. I really don't know trivia, but now I'm envious.

So you were the guys two tables behind us! That was an epic pyramid.

We're cutthroat when it comes to the trivia.

On a related note, one common misconception is that its 'cyclone trivia' as opposed to just a general trivia night with cyclone fans.

Our strategy was to get a bunch of different people from different backgrounds and ages at one table. Gave us a lot of different answers spread out through the group.

Its too bad this doesnt happen more than once a year.

That damn lyric round! Though it was fun to hear everyone in Hilton sing along to Hey Jelousy!

That's where having a wide range of ages helped us a ton. I loved that round, even though half the questions were answered by the crowd singing.

I think they do a great job of varying the categories to make them as wide as possible but not obscure.

We only had one "older" person on our team last year, and we could definitely tell it made a difference. My dad may be smart, but he doesn't know everything (despite trying to make us believe he did when we were younger).
