    Colvin Tonight

I am starting a new thread to keep this out of the bickering going on in the post game thread.

He had a good game tonight after starting really really bad. IMO he plays as good as DG and when he is in the game there seems to be better ball movement. He is one player that is out there really trying to make things happen. It seems to many players on this team get the ball and stand there and dribble expecting the defender to back off them or something. Also I may rip on DG my share but he can shoot 15 footers all he wants, I think he has found his shot.

Colvin: He had a good game tonight? 1-9 from the floor and 4-7 from the stripe is not good where I come from. 1 assist and 2 turnovers is not good.

He did try to make things happen when the rest of the team was standing around. He shot just wasnt falling.

Like DG, he needs to make those layups once he gets into the lane. He can get to the bucket but can't finish. Where have we seen that before?

    Re: Colvin Tonight

I wish Colvin would be our number 1 point guard and Garrett would rarely see the floor. It is painful to watch Garrett bring the ball up the floor, miss open post passes, and fail to drive to the hoop when he has an opening. I don't know how many times I counted Garrett get the defender on his shoulder, only to hesitate and allow the defender to catch up, rather than taking it strong to the hole. Colvin's stat line may not show it, but I feel much better with him running the point. The intangibles and the natural ability are just there.

    Re: Colvin Tonight

Please do not use tonight to make a case for Colvin. Dg hit a couple pretty big shots tonight and Colvin was 1-9. Yes, Colvin tried to create but that doesn't get us any points. He had a hand in 8 points. Colvin will be very good one day, likely sometime next year he will turn the corner, but right now I don't think he is a starting 1 guard.

I said it in the game thread (even called him eeyore at one point) but it bears repeating...I think the kid has a ton of talent, I just wish he would show some emotion. If he want to be the leader of this team (I hope he does) he has to also be an emotional leader. Stay postive, encourage your teammates when things are going well, maybe even smile a little bit, crazy I know.

just over 3 points a game. 1-1 Assist to TO margin. The minutes are there for the taking with DG in front of him and he cant play well enough to take them .

35% from 2pt range- 30% from 3pt range and 43% from the charity stripe.

Those stats are at 15 miinutes per game.

I think that will come with time. It shouldnt be his place to do so at this point.

You're forgetting he's turning the ball over at the same clip as DG in half the minutes. That's frightening.

    Re: Colvin Tonight

I think CC just had an off night. It was actually kinda weird and I noticed it from the minute he entered the game. He really seemed subdued; like he was under the weather or something. I think on several of his plays in the lane he actually got nice breaks from the refs on giving him a foul; he could easily have been charged with charging or travelling in the lane. He couldn't make the FTs anyway. But at least he drew a foul and was making something happened. Unlike DG who creates nothing for his teammates.

    Re: Colvin Tonight

He plays like a freshman, pure and simple. He has good plays and bad plays, but the ball does move better when he is in the game. His attacking mentality rubs off on the rest of the team, because Strap seems to be the only other player with that mentality.

I'm not saying he should be "the" leader or even "one of the" leaders of the team right now but I still think he could quite moping around all the time. Come off the bench and show some emotion, some fire...that's all I ask. Be the leader when you are an upperclassmen.

Very freightening, I just dont see what others are trying to see in Colvin. I see a kid who can take people off the dribble very well, I see too much street ball in his game. Not enough of the fundamentals, he is a poor shooter and his intensity needs to go up a couple of notches.
