Hilton President Hotel in Kansas City

Anyone stayed there, either during the Big 12 or otherwise? Looking for a closer location for the tournament than our past trips. It still has rooms, but is pretty pricey. Or recommendations for or against any other close-by hotels? We'd like to stay near the P&L district, and the basketball locations.

I was able to get the Westin Crown Center for a little over $100 a night a couple weeks back on priceline.

The Hilton President, Marriott, Crowne Plaza are all nice on the same couple of blocks. Tim mentioned the Westin Crown Center, which is the nicest one I've stayed at down there but it is a few blocks further south. There is also a Hyatt near the Westin that is nice.

I booked Hotel Phillips which is right down the street from everything. Someone here recommended it actually. If you ask for the non-refundable rate it's a pretty good discount. We saved $30 a night that way and got a 2 bed suite with a pull-out couch for the 5 of us for $140 a night.

Stayed at hilton president for the KSU game last year. Very close to everything down there. Walk out the back door to the hotel and youre right in power and light.

I stayed there once. What's to know? It is nice and pricey. Smaller rooms...they renovated more than remodeled. Awesome location. Historic. I wanted to stay there once, did so, and probably will not rush back.

Have stayed there for the Big XII BB tourney 2 years ago and for the KSU game this past year.

    - Very convenient location to the Power and Light District. Walking distance.
    - Rooms are clean and the beds are the heavenly beds from Hilton.
    - Not sure about price as I have always used points to stay there.

Re: Hilton President Hotel in Kansas City

You really can't get any closer to P&L and the Sprint Center, so I think this would be a good option. The only downtown KC hotel I have stayed at personally was the Crowne Plaza. The place was pretty nice and we were able to walk to P&L without a problem.

Re: Hilton President Hotel in Kansas City

Definitely I want to be able to walk places easily. That's the point of staying close in. What is parking like around there? Does every hotel have its own garage or are there city garages? I know I sound pretty naive, but when I've been in town for the Big 12 before, I wasn't staying anywhere near P&L so wasn't looking for these things.
