I am sure that Pollard is trying to figure out how much money he can squeeze from this event. But this is something that should have already been done. The fact that a lasting tribute to the man that built the basketball program hasn't happened is a real black eye for this athletic department.
Since he forced him out, I think Gene Smith should have done this in 1995.
Forcing him out in and of itself was not a good thing. We did get some good coaches in to follow him though. I would guess that budget cuts have resulted in a delay, but at the very least, a goal should be announced. It was supposed to happen somewhere around the beginning of this season.
Maybe Pollard wants to do it during a successful season. Tick...tick...tick...
This. While Cyclone fans love Coach I think it would be a mistake to have him come in and be honored at a game in which our team is getting destroyed on the court. Maybe they could schedule it for halftime of an exhibition game against EA Sports, Athletes in Action, etc....
Then again those games could be very tight come next year.
There is only one Mayor in Ames and it's Ann Campbell
