How's this for a slap in the face!!

In the Sports Section of the Saturday Ames Tribune (page C7) is an ad approximately 1/2 page long for U.S. Cellular. In the lower section of the ad is the Hawkeye logo and the following text:

"Proud to be the official wireless provider of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes."

I realize this isn't a local ad, but this really sucks being in the sports section of the local Ames paper.

Maybe we can make the above text a little more bearable:

"Proud to be the official wireless provider of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes and the various basketball coaches who are not interested in the Iowa job."

Re: How's this for a slap in the face!!

That reminds me of the promotion Hardee's ran with EIU. I can still see Hayden Fry doing that stupid commercial... saying, "Everytime you buy a thing of Hayden's Fries, $0.50 will go to.... (w/e) I wonder how well that went over at the Hardee's up in campustown where Battle's BBQ & the Keg Shop are now located?

Back in the day (late 80's), Hardee's was the place to stop after closing down the bars on Welch Ave. They had $.39 hamburgers and $.49 cheeseburgers. They helped finish off a good night of drinking.

There used to be one where the Panera bread place is on Duff i believe. And also, US cellular sux anyway, its like being sponsored by Hillbilly Hollar when you know Mountain Dew is way better.

I'm still upset that I have to travel to at least Marshalltown to get a Monster Burger while I'm visiting Orko in Ames. Battle-Cat gets tired too!

Go way back in the day and there was that Hardees at North Grand Mall. That was my favorite as a kid.

Yeah it was devastating to me as well when the Hardees where Panera is shut down, but at least there was one in Boone still. Talk about a kick in the nuts when that one closed down too. Regardless, I should probably run all the way to Marshalltown and back for the Monster Burger to make up for the 4000 calories and 150 grams of fat (totally worth it by the way ). Anybody tried the "Monster Biscuit" yet? It looks heavenly

Im just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard, Eustachy joked. If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, hell be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

I liked the one in Campustown. It was a handy place to stagger to when walking to the Towers.
