How can Boulder get votes for the best and Ames get votes for the worst? Forde lost some credibility in my book.

Best town overall, not basketball... The article addresses both. No doubt that Boulder is a great town.

And the votes we got for worst are for worst town, not worst basketball. Compared to some of the others, ames might be slightly deserving of being said with an L, as in lames. However, if any of you are willing to finance bringing a buffalo wild wings to ames, I'd be willing to change my vote on that.

Crappy chain restaurants DO NOT make a good college town... Originality does. The biggest knock against Ames is having campus separate from the town.

Yeah, Ames really needs some large chain bringing their overpriced wings to town. Sign me up!

Re: Best/Worst BBall towns according to Forde

yup because boulder is by far a better town then ames... that is why my friends the big 12 will always be a bad place for iowa state. look at a map, and tell me how in the heck we are suppose to compete in this conference. ames is better than a few towns in the big 12, but not many.... id say we are better then kstate, baylor, im not sure about the oklahom schools cause ive never been... lincoln, but just by tailgating standards, and thats about it.

That's funny because I like how ISU has a defined campus apart from the rest of the town.

If you didn't grow up loving Ames or actually attend ISU, I don't think that Ames ranks much ahead of any other Big XII towns. Manhattan is similar and from what I saw, we may outrank Stillwater. Oklahoma is basically in Oklahoma City so that's out. From what I hear, we may have a leg up on Waco, Lubbock, & College Station.

Re: Best/Worst BBall towns according to Forde

Doesn't Forde do this twice a year every year (FB and BB season)? What a hack, we get it; it's uncool to be a small midwestern city. We won't miss you if you never come back, dbag.

Re: Best/Worst BBall towns according to Forde

Actually, Forde is kind of a small town hick himself, considering he's from Kentucky and went to Missouri. His column is hilarious - even if he doesn't like ames.

Also, that column was based on opinions of beat writers who cover the conferences, not Forde himself. You really think a bunch of old media guys from TX and OK are going to talk about how much they enjoy coming to Ames in Jan-March?
