AP POLL - still not a fan

Interesting this week - NU up to #3, ISU #20 and

    11.Baylor17-5 537
    12.Oklahoma16-6 511
    13.Texas A&M16-5 510
    14.Texas16-6 475
    15.Oklahoma State18-5 436

Interesting grouping. We beat two of that group. Maybe a W next weekend will help us join - would they group the conference 11-16?

Evidentally, they didn't like the K-State loss. Maybe they still aren't convinced considering our easy non-conference schedule. But I definately agree, we should at least be closer to that grouping.

Unbelievable. Considering previous week they had Wisconsin Green Bay. No offense, but the only ranked team they beat is DePaul (no. 21) while the Cyclones beat much better teams

11-15 from one conference? how does that happen?

Does anyone else feel that they'll screw us over in the bracket just like in volleyball?

If you mean conference teams playing each other before the regional finals, I believe WBB has a rule against that (I know that MBB does). Now, if 9 teams from the Big 12 make the tournament, then that rule won't work if all 9 teams win out.

VB currently has no such rule, so all the tournament committee did was look at rankings and RPI, seeded, and that was that; they did not even concieve of the fact that there could be a regional like Omaha. Supposedly, it will be looked at this off-season (I know, a little late for this season).

Womens bball has the same rule as the men, meaning you can't play someone from your own conference until the regionals. It would be a stretch to get nine teams in, and my gut feeling is the B12 will get 7. I don't know about Kansas. They have some nice wins, but their schedule is brutal to finish. They have Neb 2x, TAMU at home, Texas at home, Baylor in Waco, Colorado in Boulder, and Texas Tech in Lubbock along with ISU at home. I could easily see them losing every game they have left, and finish 4-12.

Kansas would have to have an amazing finish to get in. Consdering they are without McCray and their point guard, they are far from the team everyone thought they would be this year. They are now essentially Nebraska last year, only their studette won't be coming back next year.

yeah, but who would have thought that Kansas would be tied with A&M and Baylor in the middle.

It won't happen, but how sweet would an Elite Eight with seven Big 12 teams be?

I said before the season that I would be surprised if the Big 12 gets someone to the Elite Eight. I still stand by that, however it is looking like Nebraska might have a good shot, I'm just not sure if a team that hasn't been to the NCAA for as long as Nebraska has will be able to do anything once they get there.

Nebraska seems to be having one of those "destiny" seasons - similar to ours last year.

But in the end someone is going to have to play UCONN. And my God have mercy on their souls.

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.

Exactly. All this year is about is who gets the honor of being destroyed by UCONN.

Re: AP POLL - still not a fan

What will be interesting to see is if someone can play a close game with UConn, and how they respond. I think the key to defending UConn is limiting touches in the post(stopping Tina Charles is the key to their inside/outside game) and having a post player that can play man defense well. The teams I think could have a great night and have a 1% chance of beating UConn are TN, Stanford, A&M(if they get their groove back), and maybe Nebby. Chances are though, UConn will only have to play one of these teams, maybe two. I know Stanford is making a lot of noise that they want another shot at UConn. Honestly, I just hope ISU doesn't end up a 4/5 seed in the UConn bracket. I'd rather see us at a 3 seed, or a 6 seed honestly. Not much difference between 9-24 teams this year. And would rather line up against the #2 seed for a chance at the Elite Eight than a #1 seed.
