    OT: Softball leagues

My friends and I were starting to think about starting a co-rec team in the Des Moines area (we've been talking about it for a few years and now we're finally doing it) and we were wondering if anybody had some recommendations on leagues. I've played in the Des Moines softball league but that is a really long league and we were looking for one that starts in mid-late May. If anybody has some suggestions I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

    Re: OT: Softball leagues

I'm not sure anyone starts mid to late May. Mid to late June the summer season starts as most of the spring leagues start up around April 15th. It depends on what you are looking for on where you go. Clive probably has the best bang for your buck if you don't mind playing 14 games. West Des Moines has the most fields (nicest too probably) and league options but are the most expensive in town too. Urbandale has the most competitive teams but with that you get a lot of cocky a-hole's playing on other teams too.

I play on 3 different nights and Clive and it's a good enough mix of competition and recreation to suit me. I like to get as many games in as possible so a 14 game schedule doesn't bother me at all. West Des Moines I think usually have 7 or 10 game schedules depending on the league I think. Just go out to the city websites and they all post information on their leagues under the parks and rec.
