    Super Bowl Halftime

I do not get why the NFL thinks that old rockers are a big deal halftiame show? To me it was embarassing to watch the Who old-timer on the guitar rock out and have his paunch keep flopping out. And there age showing in the vocals were apparent too. Didn't they run out Mick Jagger last year? I would think if they get $1M+ per 30 seconds for advertising they could afford current talent.

    Re: Super Bowl Halftime

You know, I think it has been pretty cool that these old "rockers" have performed. (I am in my 20s) And I hope I am that still "hip and with it" at their age. Anyone talking crap about them is weak.

It was a good show.....and the WHO are a great band. Good performance.

Now I do understand that since they have gone with the "Way old school acts" a lot recently..... why not look to get a good established band:

Like the Chili Peppers or something? That would be sweet.

Why not have Dave Matthews? He could play his more harder stuff. Or Green Day?

I can't really think of an act that would make a halftime show not be lame though, there's just not much you can do in that situation with that amount of time.

    Re: Super Bowl Halftime

Nipplegate screwed it all up. Disappointing really.

Some acts have been very good. Prince and Bruce Springsteen for example. However, The Who and the Rolling Stones were kind of meh. I even like the Stone and respect The Who.

If they really want to maintain their audience they need to start a pudding wrestling competition during halftime.

You read my mind. Green Day would be great.

    Re: Super Bowl Halftime

Thank you Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake for ruining SB halftimes! I hear next year's possibilites are New Kids On The Block, MC Hammer, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statler Brothers, and reuniting Milli Vanilli, lipsyncing and all.

BTW, I think Carrie Underwood did a great job with the National Anthem. Just went out and sang the heck out of it without trying to jazz up the tune or any fancy show to go with it.

Good post. I think RHCP would probably put on a great show. And for anyone bashing The Who, poor taste.
