I know this is wrong, but I'm thinking a nice big pitcher of this would be great right now...

    Re: Friday beer thread

No. However, I was going to start one of these threads Monday but just never got around to it. I was up in Minnesota last weekend and picked up some different beers that I havent had a chance to try:

Finnegans Irish Amber: I thought it was awesome. An Irish beer brewed with potatoes, I was incredibly surprised.

Backwoods Bastard: Nice dark beer with about a 10.6% alcohol content. I couldnt tell it was that potent but some of my friends cringed tasting it. I really enjoyed it.

I cant remember who made it, but I also got a Winter Cocoa Stout that was decent but nothing to jump up and down about.

Some other ones I picked up:

New Belgium Tripel - One of my favorites
Chili Beer - Took one drink and poured it out. Tasted like the burps you get after eating really spicy nachos then drinking crappy beer.
Hazed and Confused - Looks interesting, cant wait to give it a taste.

Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:

Actually, no. I didn't think the beer would photograph as well - but we used the Modelo bottle in another shot including the pilsner, wine and wine bottle. :)

That was my guess. Good head. Golden color. Lots of bubbles. Champagne of Beer comes to mind.

One of my favorite all time beers. I LOVE it.

I picked up some Sam Adams Noble Pils last night, and I wasn't expecting a lot, but it's probably the best lager I've ever had! The hop character is very pronounced, and delicious. It's a far better seasonal than the old White Ale they used to put out. I'd recommend it to almost anyone, as it's smooth enough for beer wimps, but has enough hops to please beer nuts.

Also, a bill is going through the state senate right now to lift the 6.2&ABV in Iowa right now. It's being advanced by the Iowa breweries because it doesn't allow them to be competitive out of state. I think it's got a real chance! We could be see a flood of new beer into the state.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.

I had a little too much fun last night too. Luckily my first appointment isn't until 9.
