    Cold, Hard Facts

Directly from the Big 12 website. They do not have data from the 2006-07 year (GM's first year). Over this three year period, only CU has a worse record than ISU in Big 12 play. Lots of changes happen in three years of CBB but two things have been quite consistent with ISU over the past three years...our coach and our being a bottom quartile team in the conference.

That is some nice formatting. You get can previous standings from an obscure website called espn.com.

Thanks Sparky! Hey, why don't you get GM's first year from ESPN, add it, and re-format for us all. That would be great!

Unfortunately, the moral of the story will be the same.

    Re: Cold, Hard Facts

I would add only 6 BCS teams (76 total) have not made any type of postseason tournament in the last 3 years. Iowa State is one and soon to be 4 years. How can it be that the other 70 teams have made some type of postseason? I am sure ISU is not unique in its situation and that many other teams have dealt with similar issues.

A better way to assess this would be compare ISU to schools with similar athletic budgets and in similarly desirable (or undesirable) locations. Of course we are going to look like crap when we compare ourselves to big budget programs in good location like Texas, Florida, USC, etc, etc.

I don't have the time to do this (little thing called a job to do), but if anyone does I'd sure like to see the results.

I don't have time to do it either. But I would venture to guess some of those 70 teams would be pretty comparable to ISU. Three of the teams are us, Iowa, Colorado. Everyother team in the B12 has made it. Postseason play is the NCAA and NIT. I don't really care about budgets, locations, etc when we are comparing 76 teams of the BCS confrences. It should even out somewhat and we are in the bottom 6!

So the best way to gague ISU isn't by comparison to the other teams in our league?

You know, the highlighted comment is exactly what comes to my mind when I think of how my ISU MBB Cyclones have performed under McDermott.

Simple...70 teams are cheating and only 6 are "doing it the right way"!
