    Re: I am SO tired

It could be a really interesting time on these boards if both Iowa State and Iowa men's basketball are looking for new coaches at the same time...

there are no signs of life

Brackins has gotten WORSE under McD. He pouts on the floor, is the worst rebounding 6'10" player in the conference, and all he wants to do is shoot 3's. He'll be playing in DSM for the Iowa Energy next year.

Garret couldn't see an open man if he slapped him in the face.

Gilstrap looks like he's sick of doing all the work.

    Hamilton is a project.

What is McD's signature win? We haven't had a win to feel good about in 4 years.

I'll continue going to the games when there's nothing else to do. Otherwise, complete apathy has set in.

I'm an ISU grad and fan for over 30 yrs. I don't think McD has taken us to the lowest..but over 3 1/2 seasons I haven't seen any thing that has led me to believe he is a coach that will take this program to the next level (middle of the B12 & dancing in March let alone win or compete for the conference title. I love this coach for his work ethic, honesty and personality....but this isn't going to work even if you give him 3 more years...IMO.

Obviously real life is much rougher than watching basketball, but watching basketball is supposed to be fun, an escape from real life. When watching basketball has failed to provide anything fun for 4 consecutive years, I can absolutely see why someone would choose to move on. Especially if they were commuting a long ways to watch it.

Lucca was frustrated with fans last year - he quit completely this year. Current players are quite aware fans are upset, they quit on the floor last night.

If the players are so quick to quit, why would the fans be any different?

I get some of it, and that's not unreasonable. For folks that have really put something into it and are frustrated, I get that. It's folks that seem to decide out of nowhere, like giving up is the new cool thing to do, that I think is ridiculous.

Right now, "I'm giving up" is the cool thing to say. I'm not going to deny anyone their own right to give up or keep going, but I think the mass declarations are pretty bogus.

Lets compare Scott Drew to McD...

I don't think Drew is a great coach by any stretch. He seems to run the Wayne Morgan system of finding athletes and letting them play, which leads to streaky and inconsistent play, but...

He's been there 7 years. McD is in his 4th. Drew took over IN THE MIDST OF A MURDER INVESTIGATION! THEY ALMOST GOT THE DEATH PENALTY, LOST SCHOLLIES AND COULDN'T PLAY A NON-CONF. SCHEDULE.

Despite this, he's been to the tourney, has the team ranked again this year, and is consistently pulling off signature wins.

McDermott has beaten...(crickets chirping)...maybe UNI on the road last year? Of course, only he thinks that was a good win. Everyone else knows you beat MVC teams on a consistent basis with superior talent and coaching.

McD has lowered expectations, the level of coaching, and most importantly introduced a level of apathy never before seen in ISU MBB. We can't afford NOT to fire him. I see people referencing Iowa - there are many differences: Lickliter's kids play hard (but suck) and most importantly, Iowa can afford to lose fans. They're getting a huge check from the Big 10 network and they have an established football program that is a cash cow. If fans start to stay away from Hilton - and it is starting - it will be hard to get them back and ISU will not be able to afford the loss in revenue generated from those ticket sales.

The reality of this should be slapping Pollard across the face. I hope he takes a minute away from planning his next billboard or media appearance and makes a true AD's decision.

I couldn't rep you again but this post is right on. It is sad that we talk about this stuff as just a matter of fact anymore. Fans were angry for awhile but now it has moved on to being comical.

I grew up a Clone and I used to watch every single game growing up and I would be ****** if I missed one. Now I avoid watching them and if I flip by the game when it is on and watch for more then about 30 seconds I get totally ****** at what I see. Oh how things have changed.

The amount of postgame discussion continues to go down with each passing game.

    Re: I am SO tired

It wasn't until Drew's 5th year that they made the tournament. Baylor had a losing record in each of Drew's 1st 5 years.

People seem to have the idea that building a devastated program happens overnight. I don't think it's a quick thing, and I very much believe that it's just as tough to build from what Mac had as it is from what Drew inherited.

I would chat in postgame, but I have to work and/or other commitments.

I'm not just referring to directly after the game. Go back and look at the postgame (within 24-48 hrs) activity from a month or so ago - much larger.

More and more fans are just not caring.

RIIIIGGGHT - McD's situation was a pretty far cry from the disaster in Baylor.
